When they release AP rates... are their black out dates ???

I notice when they release a military disc. rate there are black out dates for the major holidays. Is that the same for the AP rate???

Yes, there are dates where you can't get an AP rate for your room - not sure about this year, but the year we went for Christmas we got an AP rate for our first night at WL, and that was the last of the AP rate nights for the year and they didn't start back up again until after New Year's. It's not guaranteed that there will be AP rate discounts at any time of the year.

Again, not sure about currently, but in the past sometimes they blocked out weekends.

I consider the AP resort rates as a bonus to having an AP vs. a reason to get an AP, unless you already know you can get the rate for your dates before you buy one (I know you didn't ask this, just thinking out loud.)

Oh thanks. I was curious. Our dd is going to be at Disney from Jan. 9th until the June 1st doing the College Program and we will probably get AP's because of that. We are also elgible for military discounts. We are using a 35% off military disc. at PORS in early Jan. However I noticed that it was blacked out for Easter week. I was curious if there was ever a discounted room rate for a major holiday but I really doubt it. We are trying to decide the best use of our DVC points too and don't really want to use them Easter week. Thanks

I understand - we are using 2 years of points to stay in a 1 BR during Easter - and that's at OKW, too! It is really painful to go during holiday times, whether using points or cash. I paid rack rate over Christmas at the BC/BCV a few years ago (luckily only for a few nights) and it was astronomical - over $400 for a regular room I think, and maybe over $350-400 for a studio.

We are lucky in that we can stay at Shades of Green too. I booked a room there for that week. It is only 131 a night with no tax. It is a nice resort with HUGE rooms. We never mind staying there.
