When the wave of desperation washes over you...

I've been a WDW nut since I was a kid. Now, as an adult, it's funny how any tiny, random little thing can trigger this deep, emotional, desperate need to go back.

I have two kids now, DS5 and DD3. They have a Pandora station they listen to with music from the Disney movies. Recently the Pandora station started playing music from the parks, too, which I enthusiastically thumb-up. Main Street Theme, 3 Grinning Ghosts, plenty of others.

This morning, the "Tree of Life Theme" came on. That particular song doesn't really have any specific connection with me like a lot of the other ones do. Even so, when that song came on, I was suddenly transported in my mind straight into the middle of AK on a sunny 80-degree day. That was my trigger this morning.

And now I am sitting here absolutely desperate to book a trip.

We all have this sickness. The only cure is to cough up the 200 bucks deposit and book a trip. Then you can plan and plan. You'll feel good for a while then the decision time hits and you either realize it was just a dream or..."oh well, we are just going to go!"

The wave of desperation these days comes with the new worry that between booking and actually going the price increases will make it impossible to afford!

Honestly OP, I avoid Disney music, websites, movies etc. if I dont have a trip coming up soon. We go often so this isnt a huge problem for me but personally I dont start doing that stuff until 2-3 months out, otherwise its torture.

Years ago, when I was recently married but without kids, my wife and I were out at a bar with some friends. WDW came up somehow. I said "I really need to go back there soon, it's been a few years."

A buddy of mine said "I'll go."

Long story short, 3 weeks later he and I were at WDW. We golfed, we drank around the world, we had a total blast. (Wife couldn't come, had to work.)

We arrive in 4 weeks but I've already told my family that it will be 3 years until we go back after this trip, so I'm going to have to go cold turkey on the music and the YouTube videos or it will be torture. All I need to hear is the first 5 seconds of Fantasmic and I'm transported back.

Also, I have told my DD3 that she needs to eat her vegetables so that she can "grow up taller and go to Disney World" (which she repeats to us at dinner every night while NOT eating her vegetables), so now I also get that reminder all the time.

The first step in your illness is acceptance and face the fact that you are an addict. Back in 2006 I took my then 5 year old daughter on our 1 and done trip. I am now planning our 6th
