When The Girls Hang Low - A Tank Top ?

Magickndm said:
I'm not a tank wearer myself, but as someone else said, it's not that big of a deal if your bra strap shows anymore.
What I don't get are the "invisible" bra straps. I actually notice those before I notice regular bra straps.
I think one of the most unflattering looks for girls of any size are tight turtle necks. No matter what the age of the person wearing it, they always look like they're in your lap.

I respectfully disagree about tight turtlenecks. Not that I notice though...

Here's the version I learned:

Do you ****s hang low
Do they tumble to and fro
Do they flop in your face when you're runnin in a race
Do people stop and stare when you're jumpin in the air
Do your ****s hang low

I hate those shelf bras in tanks as well.

:rotfl2: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Oh you said exactly what I was singing in my head..wasn't there also a line about wrap around your head and tie them in a bow :) At this point I am who I am...a 51 y/o Mouseketeer who loves to go south so many times a year that the body seems to be doing the same thing...oh God don't let the tag fairy be listening :rotfl2:

I have seen some cami tank in catalogs that actually have a bra type back closure (under the fabric), and of course adjustable straps, don't know if they are better or not, I have been too chicken to order them and try, only to eat the shipping.

I have two of these. They are camis with a built in underwire bra. Not bad. For wearing under a lacy shirt or something they are great. But to wear alone as a tank, no thanks. They are slightly low cut and show more than I'd like.

Personally, I just don't care if my bra straps show under a tank. I gave up trying to find bras with thin straps years ago. I bought the clear straps for formal occassions because strapless bra's just don't cut it.

This is just an article of clothing I am willing to live without. For me, it's just not worth the hassle and the paranoia I feel wearing them. I love tank tops, just not the spaghetti straps.

Actually, this is a "good" look for me! But, again, I'm only a 36B and I wear a very good, supportive bra with my Gap turtleneck. It is the only time that I actually look like I've got breasts. :rotfl:

I wear a strapless bra under it. I have never thought about cutting out the shelf - I should do that.

My current complaint is now that I am expecting my first child, I have grown to, and almost out of, a DD. Maternity clothes for so reason thinks that you should be showing off the stripper chest. I personally do not (my DH probably disagrees)

I have a top with built in underwire bra from solutions.com. Those shelf bra things I only wear in the yard.

I bought the cami tanks from New York & Co. with the built in shelf bra, but I still wear a bra with it. I don't care if my straps show. I just make sure I wear the same color bra as the shirt. Believe me, it pushes them up (and out) :rotfl: but I feel like I'm suffocating.

I bought one of those bras with the convertible straps, the kind that form an x on the back, or the halter style, but I just took the straps totally off. They are not as stiff and uncomfortable as the strapless bras, and the built in shelf bra holds them up good enough. Not the greatest solution, but it works.

Travelsmith.com has the ones with the built in underwire, but they are $36 each plus shipping.

I can't wear those kind of tanks for anything! I have a WDW tank that had the built in bra and cut it out. I wear a regular one under instead, those "shelf" bra's and such are for the birds....or A cups, not C cups....and especialy not 30-something-2 children later C cups!

Let's all sing together now.....

Do your ****s hang low
Do they wobble to and fro
Can you tie them in a knot
Can you tie them in a bow
Can you throw them over your shoulder
Like a Continental soldier
Do your ****s hang low?

Sung to the tune of "Do your ears hang low?" that favorite childrens song...

:rotfl: Ever since I saw the title of this thread I've been singing that little ditty. It was a risque favorite when I was a kid. :lmao:

I can wear the tanks w/ the built in bras, but it makes me into the uni-****er. What I really need to find is something that lifts and separates. How hard is it, LIFT then SEPARATE. Sigh.

I tried on bathing suits last night, I couldn't find anything w/ any support/underwire anymore. Without it the girls look depressed and droopy.

Did you try JCPenney's catalog? They have a few with cup sizes, and I got one with molded cups, not the soft shelf bra. It's a black multi striped tankini top, I was very pleased with the top, because I know exactly what you mean!!

A word of warning about reductions. I "sprouted" early. By the time I was in 8th grade I was in a C cup. By the time I got out of high school I wore a FF bra but only because no bigger size was comercially available at the time. A few years later at 24 I had a reduction and went down to a C/D cup. Then about 12 years later I lost 150# and they totally deflated. Picture 2 very large and empty balloons stuck on your chest  Now, ironically, I would kill for implants!

I refuse to wear shelf cup anything. I can't even wear a soft cup bra because there's nothing but empty skin in them! I have to have a molded and well padded cup. Boy are they hard to find because even empty, when you gather the girls all up they fill a C cup bra. So yeah, that's my bra you see sticking out of the tank top. At least I'm comfy!

Shug, I hope to God the Tag Fairy has a day off today or you are toast!!! :rotfl2:

You have to be one of the funniest people I know, even when you might not be trying. :teeth:

And this thread has me laughing. Daxx's Wife and her headlights had me :rotfl:

I don't ever wear those shelf-bra tank tops out in public without a bra underneath... I feel a little too naked and conspicuous. I really don't think *anyone* looks good/decent in those unless they are a B cup or smaller. Anyone bigger than that really needs more support.

I do wear a lot of strappy tanks with a bra underneath. Mostly black, because a black bra strap is still going to look okay with it when showing!

I'm thinking about splurging on a Victoria Secret Ipex Cami, anyone try this type?

OMG woman, you are too funny! :rotfl2:

As owner of large pair with a smaller waist, I wear TWO shelf-bra tanks OVER a similarly-colored bra. Everything stays in place, looks okay, and the headlights are almost never visible...

i wear the tanks with the shelf bra all of the time, but I always wear a strapless bra too, for extra support.
