Hi: Looking at booking a dvc resort for next trip. We usually stay 8 to 10 nights. Do most people only book the dvc for the sun to thurs, and stay somewhere else for the other days, or do people just grin and bear it and pay the weekend rates rather than move out?

Finally talked hubby into looking at renting points for next wdw trip.

Deb.

We bought enough points so that we could use points to stay on weekends.

People will book both ways. Another option is to stay at a DVC resort for weeknights on points, and then transfer to a deluxe resort on cash for the weekend. It's a nice option if you are running low on points since rack rates do not distinguish between weekdays and weekends.

An option is to stay onsite at Universal for the weekend. With FOTL access you can do both theme parks in the 4 days you have, you can use your room key the day you check in and the day you check out.

Onnce we check in we don't want to move too much hassel were on vacation and thats what we paid for enough to stay on weekends or whatever we need this upcoming trip 10 days and two weekends wine fest here we come

We booked Sun-Thurs using points and are paying cash for Sat & Sun with a 25% dicount for DVC members. That is one of the perks.

we also bought enough points to stay weekends. when we did this we did it to go on vacation. if the points are more on the weekends they are more. One thing we do know for sure is that they wont go up and as mentioned we have enough points only 210 to go on two vacations a year. we only need studios. good luck in your plans.

Next month I'm staying two days at POP, then renting DVC points for BWV for Sun-Thurs, then spending two additional nights at POP (nine nights total). By renting DVC points Sun-Thurs, avoiding the high weekend points and getting an AP code at POP I was able to add two more days to my vacation. I don't like the idea of moving from BWV back to POP, but love being able to spend two additional days at WDW.

We're doing Fri/Sat at POP, then Sun-Wed at BCV, then CRUISE for the 2nd weekend, then back to VWL for Sun/Mon! We'll be moving non-stop :guilty:

But still pscyched!!! :goodvibes :cool1: :Pinkbounc :cheer2:

Originally booked Sat at BCV with 25% discount, but couldn't get decent airfare on Sat, so switched to Fri and figured if we're staying at Pop one night, might as well make it two and save a little more.

After moving for a couple years we added enough points to stay on the weekends, moving in the middle of our stays was too much hassle for us. However, since we often arrive in the evenings, rather than early morning, we usually spend the first night either off-site or at a value resort on AP discount...using our overnight bags only, then check-in at OKW the next morning after breakfast.

Us too!

That said though, when we have enough points, we do book the wknds with pts so as not to have to shell out the cash (originally, we did figure on how many pts to afford us an entire week Sat.- Sat). Since moving to FL though, we seem to always be in a constant state of borrowing so we've lately been paying cash with the member discount for our week long trips - We'd much prefer to not have to move either;)

We book our entire trip including weekends at our dvc resort .

The idea of moving after getting all settled.. too much work and hassle. It's not only our luggage and such but all the groceries that we've purchased for our stay.

For us to move to a moderate and get 2 rooms, not guaranteed connecting, would probably cost us more than what we fiqure our points cost us, in the long run.

We bought enough points for a 7-night stay. When we treat others to a room of their own, we have to shorten our stay. Once we paid cash.

We always book one weekend but rarely two. For either the first or second weekend of our stay, we head over to Universal to enjoy front of line access by staying at the Hard Rock.

Acutally because we want the longest vacation possible with the minimum amount of time taking the kids out of school, we leave on a Friday night after school and stay until the following Sunday so we are actually there on two weekends. We knew this would be the plan and bought enough points to do this!

We looked at it as a weekly stay and not as a per day stay. We originally purchased enough points for a week in a two bedroom during adventure season. We then added on so we could have longer stays. Spending money for a night elsewhere seemed redundant to us, so we always stay on weekends. We usually do 10-12 days by putting the weekend in the middle of the stay so it is only one weekend and not two.

We just got back from WDW 4/1-4/8.
We stayed at Silver lake Friday and Saturday nights and the Beach Club Sunday to Friday. It was relatively effortless and the money we saved paid for the WDW park tickets AND a Lincoln Town Car from Thrifty for the week.
No Big Deal.

WE only worry about weekends if we plan a stay of less than a week (rarely). Then we do try to avoid weekend days, if possible.

Bought enough points to stay weekends, but every so often we prefer to squeeze an extra vacation so we either pay cash for the weekend or use AP rate at another WDW resort. I'd like to try them all so this is a great way to do it!

We only have 100 points, so we gotta s-t-r-e-t-c-h them out!

By staying in the "cheap" seasons in an OKW studio, we're able to get THREE 5-day (4-night) vacations each year staying Sun-Wed or Mon-Thu.

If I WERE to stay the weekend, I would definately pay cash, probably at a moderate resort. But, I understand weekends are pretty busy at the parks, so I'm completely content going during the week.
