There are lots of reasons for someone to not accept your request. Maybe they only use it to communicate with family, maybe it's for their business, maybe they haven't seen it yet, maybe they're just not that into you, etc. Who knows? It's none of your business.

I only have family on mine and would decline a friend request of any others. I agree completely with the bold text.

Not sure I even notice. A lot of times the notification comes many days later & by then I've probably forgotten whether I'd previously received confirmation or not.

I would do nothing. I turn down friend requests all the time from people who don't need to know any more about my personal life than they already do.

It honestly depends on the person. My ex boyfriend from high school does not get an explanation. My sister got one.

I voted that I'll mention it to them, but it depends on who the them is.
If it's someone that I'm close to that may have overlooked it, then I'll mention it.
If it's someone that's just an acquaintance then I won't ask.

I only have 30 people on my Facebook, almost all who I have met in real life. I use Facebook mainly to keep in contact with friends who live in different countries, instead of going down the pub or going for lunch we chat on Facebook. Many of my friends are also friends with each other, so we talk about everything and anything. I don't want family members or current work colleagues or neighbours or someone I went to school with etc seeing my conversations with my friends! I rarely accept friend requests but when I do get a request, depending on who the person is, I send a PM explaining that I dont add people.

Voted other. I don't send friend requests typically. If I did and that person didn't accept I would assume it was either they didn't want to be FB friends or they don't use FB much and didn't see the request. I wouldn't care and wouldn't think twice on it.

I've got 8 friend requests from people I knew many years ago that I'm ignoring. I don't have to be facebook friends with everyone I know - especially people who were not very nice or old boyfriends or relatives I don't like.
