We are about to embark on our first
AbD Tours: June 2 Paris Escape and June 4 DVC First Wave Rhone River Cruise. The Paris Escape was paid in full at time of booking, and the Rhone River Cruise was paid in full on January 29th. It's been a month since final payment, though I know our trip is still three months out. When should I be receiving any info from AbD? Is it 60 days out? For River Cruises, do we pre-choose shore excursions? I'm a big planner, so it's so weird to me to have no communication with our trip so close (by my standards, at least!). Thanks!
I estimate you’ll receive a link to the Rhone trip handbook sometime this month, maybe in 2-3 weeks? It will include the final excursion options. You’ll be given a date, maybe a week or two later, to choose your excursions in advance. Don’t know for this one, but for the Tulip one last year we were given the option to change some excursion choices on Day 1 subject to space - ie there are a finite number of bicycles so that might not be available later.
You don’t have to make choices in advance. If you aren’t sure about any of the choices, you can not make the choice early and decide on board, again subject to availability, after chatting with the guides. The impression I got was the advance choosing is to give them an idea of where folks are leaning, for planning with venues and guides.
After Day 1, you might not be able to change; some folks wanted to change one on day 4 or 5 and were told they could not. You can decide not to do one later, just be sure to let the guides know so they are not waiting for or looking for a “missing” family.
For the Escape, look for the email with that handbook link a couple of months in advance. You should also receive a box with some pre-trip items, in the past it’s been some sort of backpack or bag, luggage tags or straps, etc, maybe a month or so ahead of departure date? I can’t remember the exact timing,
You can also call in and they will give you the estimated dates when all of these should be sent out for your departure.
