When should we go?

My family (me, DH, DD3, DD2) want to visit WDW in 2006. It will be our first trip to WDW. We want to go when it's the best weather with smallest crowds (doesn't everyone). We've heard that early November and early December are good weather periods. Because of possible crowd issues in early November (Jersey Week, Vet Day, Super Soap Weekend), we're thinking of coming the first week in December.

A good friend and WDW expert thinks that going to WDW with the Christmas decorations up will be too overwhelming for us for our first visit. Her argument is there is so much to take in at WDW for the first time that adding Christmas elements on top of it will make it just too much for our first experience. She also added that there will be less daylight in Dec and shorter park hours. These will also detract from our first visit.

Do you agree? Should we go before Christmas decorations go up?

Would early November be better for our first trip? Because Thanksgiving is so early next year, there's not a lot of days between the crowds for Halloween and the crowds for THanksgiving. Does Jersey week and Vet day raise crowds a lot? (I've read that it may be crowded during that week this year.)

Is there a better time other than early November or early December?

Thanks for your help!

Have been there April, May, August, Oct, November and Dec and I really enjoy the beginning of May the best.

I have gone the past three years the first or second week of May and I think it is the best time weather and crowd wise. Its in the 80's but not humid so it would be warm enuf for the kids to use the pools.

Dec is beautiful but when we were last year it was only in the 60's during the days and some nites got as low as 30's. When your picturing warm/cool its actually felt sooo much colder than that same temperature felt in N.E. (i know all in my head). Its is absolutely beautiful but your girlfriend is right, there is alot to take it at this time of year.

I can tell you the Jersey week isn't all that bad on crowds. We were there in 2002 and again in 2004. I have been to WDW lots of different times of the year and found that is the best time to go.

The only park that was busy at that time of the year was MK. In 2004 we when we went Epcot was like a goast town. We walked right on to all the rides.

The weather at that time of year is usally not hot. We did run in to one day that got in the 90's.

We loved the full week before Thanksgiving--nice weather (we had no rain), and low crowds. But leave by the Saturday before Thanksgiving as that's when the crowds start coming. Also if you're into it, some of the decorations are up.

We also liked early January--no crowds, but chilly.
