When should it be safe to "uncover" my rose bush?

This is the first year that I have had this thing and the instructions about covering it were very clear but uncovering - had none! I am not sure when it is a good time to uncover it. The cover that I have on it is styrofoam and has a small opening at the top so it's getting adequate airflow. I just don't want to stunt it's growth by having it on too long and I don't know how long is too long. The temps over the next week are suppose to be in high 50's/60's and the nightimes are suppose to be above freezing and in the low 40's.

Thanks. Sorry I'm asking so many questions but this is like a newbie starting all over again :D

I think as long as temps are supposed to be above freezing uncover it. Just be prepared to cover it back up if temps drop. You can even wrap the base in an old blanket if temps drop quickly.

Many years ago from the old Victory Garden shows there was one clue as to when to unwrap, prune and fertilize your roses. This varies from year to year but the clue is when the Forsythia bloom it time to start caring for the roses. Hope this helps.

I don't have any Forsythia...maybe I need to plant some ;) :D

I am so afraid to prune the darn thing cause I don't want to lose it. How far is good??? It says on the little card that came with it 12" I guess I need to get the measuring stick out when I'm out there cutting......YIKES. See, just call me chicken little!

Chris, here's a link to a Roses FAQ page. I think you might find some helpful answers there.

I only have one rose, a climber, and I didn't cover it at all. So far, it looks okay. :) IMHO, it would be fine to uncover your rose now.
