When Should I Start Looking to Book?

I’m trying to do my homework to determine the best time to book a trip for Feb 2023 (or late January). I recently learned about renting DVC points and think that’s the smarter option for our group (4 adults and 4 kids) since we likely need a 2 bedroom. I know that I can only rent 11 months out from members who have points in a home resort but then when I look on the rent/trade board I see some people already advertising that they can rent through the end of 2022?

So my question is—when do I actually need to start looking to book? The points calendar won’t even be out until the end of this year I think?

They probably are not saying that they can currently book thru the end of 2022. The latest any owner can book into 2022 is 11 months from now (i.e. mid-June). What they are saying is that the points that they are offering can be used for a reservation that runs as late as the end of 2022.

For any popular resort at a busy time, it’s best to book as close to 11 months out as possible. Inside of 7 months and you open yourself up for disappointment.
