We'll FINALLY be going on our cruise on November 16th. We would like to book another cruise for March, 2005. When's the best time to do this? Should I book on board with Disney or should I wait and book when I get home with DU for the shipboard credit? Any frequent cruisers have any help for me? Thanks!!!:jester:

I believe that you get on board credit for booking before you get off the ship. That is what we are going to do in Nov. If DU has a better rate/offer I think you can bump your reservation to them after you get off. My parents ablways bump ours to AAA so we get the mugs and she credit....:D

After reviewing all posts over that last 9 months, I have concluded that according to repeat cruisers, there single biggest regret is NOT booking there cruise on board.

Since I have always been taught to "respect local knowledge", I bet this is sound advice.

They do have great offers that can only be found if you book onboard.

This doesn't preclude you from using the services of a TA. When you book it, tell them that you want your reservation assigned to Dreams Unlimited.

Your other option is to contact DU when you return. They can assist you in transfering it over to them.

Either way, you'll be able to take advantage of the rebate that DU offers. :D

On the Oct. 5th Wonder cruise, they were offering 10%off and $200 shipboard credit per stateroom if you booked a future 7 day while still onboard.

When we rebooked on board for one of the of new Eastern Cruises next summer during our August 23-30, 2003 cruise, we received a $400.00 per cabin onboard credit, was well as a 10% discount off the price of the cruise.

Wonder if they will do that $400 stateroom credit again?! Got lucky, didn't we?!

 Rae,

We sure did, the only I didn't mention was, when we changed our ressie from all cash, to points and cash, we lost the credits. We were however give a $100.00 onboard credit from DVC.

Wow, Andy, that's a bit of a downer. Did you know that would happen? Still I suppose a cruise is a cruise - we may well use points ourselves for 2005 - especially if we go on a certain birthday cruise (still not mentioned to DH so sshhhhh!!!!)

Now that's a big surprise - cash from the DVC!!! LUCKY YOU!

I know that when I pay cash, I use a travel agent, Bill at cruisetraveloutlet.com - he gives me a 7% rebate on the cruise (not taxes, port charges, insurance, transfers). He gets 10% so that's pretty decent of him to give me 7% back!!!

Andy - darling, is our cruise going to be

Andy and Rae

or

Rae and Andy

We both have the other put first on our sites.....

EITHER WAY, I want to book NOW for 2005.........getting anxious to turn 50 is a definite sign of mental illness.......something is wrong with us....

I think we are just trying to be respectful of one another.

Actually I was thinking Beauty before Age, that's why I put you first in my signature. I guess you were thinking Age before Beauty!!! LOL!!!

Yes Karen, I knew this when we booked the cruise onboard that this would happen, but I didn't have the $$$$ needed to pay for the whole cruise in cash. We had planned to use points for DW and I from the beginning, we paid cah for DD and her friend.

About 2005, mums the word!!!

We were quite surprised about this as well, we didn't even know anything about it until the day after we made our ressie. We called DVC back and they said we had received this onboard credit. Don't worry I know just where to spend it, the Internet Cafe, here I come!!! I'll send DW to the spa, DD and her friend off with the teen group, and I'll head down to the Internet Cafe, I'll be in 7th Heaven!!!

We are going in March of 2004 and wanted to book another cruise in 2005.
I booked last week with All Seasons as we got our cruise $50 cheaper than Disney's price PLUS a $100 onboard credit. When we cruise I will compare the price and if it is any cheaper will then rebook onboard and roll it over to All Seas and cancel the first one.

I think this way you cover all the bases for a lower fare.

Cheers,
Grumbo
