We are staying at Pop in under 2 weeks and wondered if anyone can advise.

I have noticed that when some of you have phoned to confirm your room requests, that you are told which building and room you have. How close to the check-in day should i phone in order to find this out.

Do they allocate your room more than a week in advance? :confused3

Any help would be great, thank you. :goodvibes

It's not possible to find out what room and building you're going to be in by calling before your trip. You may have read about people requesting certain rooms or buildings, but the resort does not give out that information ahead of time.

Rooms are pre-assigned in some cases, but except for certain situations like medical needs, I don't believe those assignments are set in stone and can be changed at any time until you arrive.

If your room is ready when you arrive at the check-in desk, they'll of course tell you the room number at that point. If your room isn't ready when you arrive, you'll be given your room key and card with a number to call later to find out if the room is now available. When you call that number, IF the room is ready, they'll give you the room number at that time.

Our last trip they wouldn't tell us literally until the room was 100% cleaned. We had to wait a few hours for it to be ready, and the last time we checked on it, they said, "It's almost done, just a few minutes more."

We said, "Which room is it?" , so that we didn't have to keep bothering them, and she said, "Sorry, I can't tell you until the room is ready for you."

I sometimes think it's a bad idea to bug them too much with room requests. I'd make the request once and then remind them when I checked in, always keeping in mind I still might not get the room I want.

They won't tell you until the room is ready to be occupied the room number. Just remember they are just requests and you will be fine.

The reason i need to phone Pop and confirm is that as i come from the UK we have to give any room requests to the tour operator/travel agent who takes our booking in the UK. To be honest they are notorious for getting it wrong so it is worrying me a little.

I havent actually spoken to anyone at Pop yet so i hope they wouldnt consider me to be "bugging" them with my first phone call.

It would be enough for me to just know the requests have been noted. If we don't get the building we have requested its not a great problem but i would need a non-smoking room as DH suffers from asthma.

Thank you for letting me know that they won't tell me which building we are in. I wasnt aware of that. I had read on another thread that someone phoned Pop last week and were told they were in the 60's building with a non-smoking room. :confused3

I would call the week you are leaving and tell them you need a special clean and the room needs to be smoke free cause your dh has asthma. Also be sure you get the persons name that you speak to so if its not done you have ammunition. This is what I was told to do by housekeeping since I also have asthma that is caused by smoke and chemicals especially bleach. They did a great job at POP and gave me most of my request especially the 4th floor. I will do this for all the hotels I go to cause I have been lied to and ended up with a bad asthma attack. So for peace of mind call ,its called CYA. You come along way for your vacation and you don't need it ruin. So good luck. whit1 :wave2:

Good luck ... I called CSR two days before our arrival to make sure our requests were noted on our reservation. I was told they were and we were good to go. Needless to say, when we checked in we were assigned the complete opposite of what we wanted! Luckily we were able get the section we'd requested after all, since the resort wasn't even half full. Leads me to believe that some resort CMs take your requests seriously, and others put them into the "circular file."

From years of going to WDW I really get the feeling (could be wrong) that they really don't do anything about your request until the day you check in, and that they aren't wild about requests.

I think mentioning it in a really friendly nonconfrontational way when you check gets the best results.

If you have your confirmation number, you can call Disney CRO and confirm the requests you have made. I believe the only time that Disney CRO cannot see a reservation is a package that is booked through AAA.

You can ask for the room to be "Specially Cleaned", which is a different way they clean the room for those suffering from allergies/asthma. They will ask what conditions you/your DH has to justify this cleaning. I suffer from numerous environmental allergies and my TA contacted Disney directly and had this noted on the reservation. Because of this, my reservation does state that a non-smoking room is guarenteed and that the room is to be specially cleaned for medical reasons. They will remove all pillows, blankets, etc. that have feathers and will replace the sheets with brand new one's. They will also clean the room with special types of cleaning solutions that won't irratate allergies or asthma.

I'd give them a call just to confirm your requests are noted in your reservation. You can also call the day before you arrive to confirm your requests. As others have stated, they will not give you your room number ahead of time. When you check-in, you can confirm your requests one more time.
