When should I come to Disneyworld in 2020?

My thread is for opinions excluding the present pandemic. I am coming to Disneyworld in 2020 for a resort only vacation but I can't decide when and where. I can come in 2 weeks doing a split stay renting points staying at the RIvera in a deluxe studio for three nights then the Boardwalk Villas for 5 nights. I also have reserved November and December at Pop Century which we love. Renting points is actually less expensive than Pop in November and December but we love the weather in the winter months in FLorida and of course the beautiful Christmas decor also these points and resorts are not available other than July. We are 2 adults and 1 child who is 10. We will resort hop, dine, swim and relax by the pool maybe a little site seeing in Winter Garden. We do not rent a car. I am only choosing one trip this year. Please let me know your opinions. What would you pick? I realize the restrictions and the heat but my feeling is these restrictions will not be lifted this year and probably through the beginning of 2021 as well. I do wish to see the fireworks but my guess is that also will be on hold for a bit. Thank you.

I think I would opt for the December trip only because of Christmas decorations and possibly you might get a chance later in the year to visit apark. If you were o my doing a swimming at the resort type of trip I may lean with the in 2 weeks trip....if your trip is centered around your 10 year old swimming i think the Riviera and boardwalk pools are nicer than pop ( opinion only.)...and you are guaranteed great swimming weather in the summer obviously. So is the stay more centered on swimming or general sightseeing. That's what I'd base my decision on! Have a great trip whenever you choose☺

Thank you! With my November/December trip we do have park reservations presently but as much as I would love to go the things we enjoy the most the parades, fireworks, Fantasmic, Festival of the Lion King are all closed and for me, for our family so very sad. Yes our trip will be centered around the pool and relaxing.

I would wait until later in the year. It is SO hot in the summer. I much prefer the weather in November/December and, by then, perhaps some of the things in the park that you enjoy most will be back.

Thank you. These are my challenging decisions! One moment to the next I think I have the answer then the hope creeps in! We do love the holidays but my husband will not visit the parks wearing a mask we would have to leave him home or poolside.

Resort-hopping isn't much of an option this summer; guests must have an ADR for access to other resorts. That doesn't leave much other than the pool or Disney Springs. So I'd do the winter trip. Resort hopping may be more relaxed then. Plus there is greater chance of park tickets becoming available (no guarantee, but more likely than this month).

Thank you. I spoke many times with Guest Services and you can resort hop as long as you have a resort reservation. I do have park and dinning reservations for July, November and December but we will probably only be enjoying a resort stay. November/December is definitely our weather choice but we only have Pop as a choice which we do enjoy but Boardwalk and the Rivera would be a nice pool day.

Do you already have the point rentals secured? I know there's been some worry over the fate of the point brokers after the mess this Spring. Also, point rentals are typically non-refundable, which means no cancelling or changing dates. Point rentals have been too restrictive for many to take the risk this year, since illness, state travel restrictions, and quarantine requirements would not be enough to warrant a refund.

Its been the understanding of many here that resort "hopping" won't be permitted, and that in order to enter a resort, you'd need either a TS ADR or a reservation at that resort. Nothing has been enforced yet, but would expect it to once the parks and some other resorts re-open. I know the Disney released guidance was not clear on this which has led to some confusion but when thinking about it logically, it would be difficult to control social distancing and employ sanitization procedures if they allowed any WDW resort guest to stroll any WDW resort hotel. Limiting it to guests and TS diners only helps keep the numbers inside the hotel at a minimum.

I would go much later in the year. Even to the point of pushing it to 2021. Things are looking bad down here. If you do come bring masks a plenty and be prepared to wash and purell at every opportunity

Yes a reliable source but of course no refunds once secured which would be a trip in only a couple weeks. It's such a tough decision because I just want to get to Disney for that wonderful change of scenery.

Thank you. I hear wonderful things about Universal and yet have never been! I did plan to visit Citywalk as a first timer!

As late as possible, then spend it at Hard Rock or Portifino Bay at auniversal. Nicer hotels and better service. But it’s not Disney.
I really like city walk as well... its really easy to get to from the hotels.
We personally cant do resort only, looking at the mickey power lines would make me want to go..

I would suggest NEVER. 2020 is a very bad year, there is little "Park" - no value.
Instead? Rush to the 2021 queue. Recover as much cash as you can :(.
