When park opening time is 10am are there breakfast res before? And if so how early? I'd love to be in and out before 10am at Minnie's. Anyone experienced this before?

The non-park locations (e.g., Surf's Up at Paradise Pier and Storytellers at the GCH) generally start serving breakfast much earlier. You might look into one of those locations if you wanted a character breakfast before the park opens.

As Figment said, it will open "officially" 50 mins before regular opening on an EE/MM day. I always eat at Minnies on these days. They will let you in right when MM starts. So on a 10 am opening day, you will be let in right at 9. Last time we did that, we were tempted at go take a quick ride on Peter first, because we were the first in the park since there was no one else at the character breakfast line. But we resisted and went right to the Plaza. It's awesome to be the first there. The characters come fast and there are a lot of them. We are always done by the time the park is about to open, and we eat a lot and play with the characters a lot too. The restaurant is practically empty for the first 20 mins, and even after that fills slowly. I would say that each character comes to our table at least 2 times. Some more. Of course I can't guarantee that, but we ate there 3 times this year, and that was our experience each time.

It has become one of our favorite meals in the parks!!

Just note that in order to ride Peter Pan prior to the park opening to the general public on a EMH/MM morning, you have to be eligible for EMH or MM. A reservation at Minnie's (or Ariel's, if you're over in DCA) doesn't give you access to EMH/MM.

When eating there with a reservations is there certain lines you wait in to get into the park or do you just wait with the EMH people? The reason why I ask is I am staying at the GCH and normally enter through the enterance there.

There is a turnstyle all the way at the end (nearest to the DTD side, if that makes sense) that says Character Breakfast. You go in there. We just did this Saturday!

If you can time it right, go on a Magic Morning day. Then you can get in and out of Minnie's before (or just after) 10AM. As others mentioned, it's a good time to go as it's less busy.

We saw Minnie, Chip, Dale, Eeyore, Fairy Godmother, Captain Hook, Tigger, and Rafiki. These are the exact same characters we saw two years ago when we did this breakfast! I know sometimes others have been reported (piglet I have heard) but this is who we saw on Saturday!

But could I get a Minnie's early res without have EMH/MM?

Yes, you can make the reservation and eat at Minnie's during EMH/MM without being eligible for EMH/MM. You just can't go on any of the attractions that are open.

Once you're through the gate, how would they know?

I think going in and trying to ride a ride before your meal would not be a good idea. I would not be surprised to hear that people do this though. If you are very fast eaters and meet the characters quickly, I suppose you could get in line for a ride before the park officially opens. They won't send you back behind the rope. Character meals are pricey though. So I'd rather enjoy my meal then rush to get on a ride. I have many other days to open the parks.

Do they not escort people from the gates to the restaurant anymore? It has been awhile since I had an ADR during EMH, but we were always escorted from the gates to the restaurant by a CM.

Sorry here's another question. I've heard to visit the alternate park when there is a MM. This is definitely the case at WDW. Does this rule apply at DL too? So potentially I could make a 9:10 Minnie's reservation if MM, eat, and then park hop to CA? Good idea or bad? (And forgive me I cannot remember the difference between MM and EM so I might be saying this wrong.)

They did not escort us.
