Thinking its time to get outside the neighborhood! Now that I have a pedometer Im counting steps instead of rotations.
Only half of the 1.5mile road to downtown has sidewalk tho and it still needs to be cleaned up.
Im thinking this wknd (weather in 40s Sat, 50s Sun) of parking at the library and walking Main St.

Where do you go?

Walking is my favorite form of exercise! I walk at a variety of places. Usually, I walk on the country road that goes by my home. I love being in nature while I'm walking - it helps me to think about things. But, sometimes, and this may sound odd, LOL - I walk at the cemetary near my job. It's all pavement, it's peaceful, and it has alot of hills. :-) Happy Walking! :)

When I lived in my apt years ago, I always walked through the cemetary. My dad had been recently buried there so that's why I started going, and then it just seemed like a really nice peaceful place to walk through, so I just continued on.

Winter here is really hindering my outdoor roadwork, and my biggest problem is that that I cannot just keep walking the same small area and repeating it 40 times. I need to decide how far I'm going to walk, how many different streets I'll walk down, and go for it. I cannot just go to the park and walk around the track, or the outside perimeter for an hour. I get bored too easily, and need different houses to look at.

If you have to drive somewhere so that you have somewhere different to walk, I say go for it. Lack of good roads/sidewalks can end up causing you bodily harm, and we don't want that to happen to you :(

Happy trails !

Don't hate me, but...Disneyland. Well, sometimes anyway. Actually, I drive to my friend's house, then we walk to and around the parks. We have a 1, 2 and 3yo with us so we don't do many rides, the majority is just walking. I also like to walk at the mall in the mornings. The is especially good on hot summer days. I don't tend to walk around our neighborhood much. There are too many busy, busy streets, lots of street noise and bumpy sidewalks for the stoller. It just isn't enjoyable to walk close to home.

I may start walking in the Old Town part of town. It's like a step back in time, somewhat quiet and I could walk to get there. I also like parks with sidewalks that cut through them. I hate just walking tracks or perimeters, but if the paths cut back and forth and around, then it works okay.

If you have a dog, walking is not an option...It's a requirement.

I've got a German Shepherd/Wolf hybrid and we go for 3 miles every stinkin day! Mostly around our neighbrhood and through a park or two. And if it's raining out and we can't go the big lug drives me nutz!

DH mapped out 1 1/2 mile route which is what I do (when it's not as cold as it is now. :teeth: ) We also sometimes go somewhere (like down by the lake) to walk but for the most part I just do that route as the more I do it, the faster it seems to go.
