When making ADRs, do they ask if you are on DDP? If so, why?

I'm just curious if it's a statistics/tracking thing or something different...

Yes. they do...and I'm not sure why. I just called last week and made some ADR for my upcoming June trip. That was the first question she asked.

Does anyone know..?

E..:)

this is just a guess, but maybe it because they want to make sure you don't use too many credits and if you do, make sure that you understand that you will have to pay OOP for the extras.

I got a young man who kept asking why I was going alone on holiday. Rather irritated me but couldn't get his name.

Maybe if you are not on the DDP, and you are booking a lot of TS meals, they then suggest buying the DDP?

Some restaurants, like CRT, make you pre-pay but allow DDP guests to just give a credit card as a guarantee. Some restaurants require 2 credits, the CM wants to make sure the guest is aware of that fact. MYW Dining guests tend to order appetizers and desserts for everyone, it's included. Those guests probably wind up staying longer at the restaurant. Knowing the approximate % of guests are on the dining plan may help some restaurants plan.

I called 3 times to make ADRs and they haven't asked me in any of those 3 times.

That is a shame. Every time I've called WDW, the conversation began with the CM intoducing themself. Sounds like you got a lemon!

Disney has always asked if on a package (I think it is more for statistics as anything - when I worked at DRC, I asked too - 6 years ago).

The CM's aren't usually checking to see how many credits you are using (to see if you are going over on a package, especially since many times they don't know how long you are staying). Though they will usually say if a restaurant is more than 1 credit.

Of course, being on the DDP is important also in that you aren't supposed to be charged on your CC for CRT, Hoop De Doo, etc. (though they do take that information in case of cancellation).

I called alst night for a few ressies and they didn't ask. I called again tonight and they did ask.
