When Lovebugs are coming in 09?

Does anyone have an idea when the lovebugs will be around in 09? Our trip is Sept 13th-21st, a large group with a lot of them being their first and probably last trip . . . I really don't want them swarming then!

I know that there are lovebugs in the May period and also around september somewhere.
But they are very harmless.
They just fly around you but that's it, they don't bite or something. Just wave your hand and that's all....

I never understand why they bother people so much. No stinging. No biting. Just buzzing around "doing their thing." Don't wear white (they like white) and wash them off your car asap if you're driving your own vehicle as they little dickens will eat your paint.

I realize they are there in May and September, but it is usually only one week. I have been to Florida 6 different years in Sept, but have only seen them one of those years. It just made everything seem dirty . . . dead and live bugs in our room . . .flying in my face while standing in line . . .

We have a large group of 13. I have been to Disney a lot, but it will be the first and last trip for a lot of people in our group and I want it to be as magical as possible.

I dont think anyone can tell you exactly what week they will arrive. I know when we were down in early May they said they came early. There were not alot of them and I would not have noticed if I had not read about them here on the DIS.

I don't think they come out the same "week" every year. We went once in September (23-30) and they were out in full force.

But if your dates are already set then there is nothing you can do but deal with them. We were grossed out and annoyed at first, but by the end of the trip we were at the point where we didn't even talk about them anymore. They don't bother anyone. Trust me.

We saw them in mid-September 2005 when we were there. I didn't really care about them too much, but my then 5 year old bug-phobic daughter was having a hard time coping with them. They appear rather large when they are flying around together, but as stated above, they are completely harmless unless you are a car with a really nice paint job. Hopefully they aren't there the second week of October. I don't need my daughter flipping out every ten seconds.
