See I was born in northern WI in 1970. We had -40 then. Winter lasted all winter. It's making a comeback!
How the heck do you know your older than me? We had at our grade school a huge mountain built for "sledding days" and we also had a skating rink for another day? I mean for our recess. Something these days I don't know exist?

When it's so cold that you breath in and your lungs BURN, you know that it can't be good to be outside...MAN, will it ever get warm again? I've had people say "well, you chose to live there..." but really, is it any better anywhere else. We lived on the east cost (south) for many years and put up with horrible hurricanes, my brother lost his home in a mudslide in Nevada, I have a friend who lives in CA that is deathly afraid of earthquakes (rightfully so, she's been through 2 bad ones in her life!!!) and in other areas, there are really bad tornados at times durring the year...so really? We just have to think "what would we rather put up with?"
I just thought I'd offer my 2 cents...we can't live where it gets too hot in the summer, because of my daughters heat/humid problems (believe me we've tried)...Is there that "perfect" location? Someplace with out snow, with out 20 BELOW BEFORE the windchill knocks it down to 50 or 60 below? Is there someplace that doesn't have earthquakes, tornados in the summer, hurricanes? TELL ME, I'd like to know where, because I'd love to move there!

). I am slightly older than you are and spent my childhood in Minneapolis and a tiny town in northern WI. I never EVER remember a day off from school for the cold. Too much snow or freezing rain? Yes. But never for just the cold. I'm just amazed so many schools are closed tomorrow!

Yeah, we're -28 right now!!! That's BEFORE the windchill brings us down to -60 or so...at what point does it NOT MATTER anymore? I mean what's the actual difference between -15 and -28 before windchill?
We hated Iowa because although it doesn't get as cold there, every winter it was PURE ICE! If we're going to live where winter occurs, we'd better get to have some fun in the snow, and not just slide around on the ice!

DH received a fabulous offer to head to Southern Ca for a 5+ years engineering project. We jumped at it. The weather here in the OC is absolutely amazing. DH came in May and I joined him in July. I spent the summer here and there is NO humidity. I flew out of Boston July 1st in heat and humidity that was horrific only to arrive here and fall madly in love!!!
I speak with family daily back home and this winter with the bone chilling temps and the constant snow storms is just not stopping.
Sending some 80+ degree weather from sunny So Cal everyone's way.=)
eduk8r26, another fabulous day in the OC!!!
