When is your school's fall break?

I don't understand the desire to take more breaks and making the summer break shorter.

Either get the school year done or go year round. This middle ground stuff would drive me nuts. Glad they didn't do it when I was still in school.

Ours is This Thurs and Friday 20 & 21. They break because of Education Minnesota teacher convention.

We have early release today, and have Thursday and Friday off. I don't think they consider it Fall Break, but it's teacher in-service.

In the UK we have either a one week or two weeks break in October. We normally come over to WDW but we are going to Disneyland Paris this year as we were over at our weeks break in May.

We have breaks every six to seven weeks.

We don't have a fall break, of course we don't start school until the day after Labor Day. For Thanksgiving we get off Wednesday early and no school Thursday or Friday.

DD started Aug. 28th. She has no fall break, just Wed.-Fri. over Thanksgiving. For Christmas it's pretty much right before the holiday until New Year's. No Easter break, not even GoodFriday off. She's done the end of April/

To the OP - my son is in HS, they have no fall break. There's usually 2-4 days off for Easter, unless we go over the snow days, in that case, they just get Good Friday off.

The public schools around here have half days all week. My son's parochial school, which generally follows the same schedule as the public schools, because they share the bus, had half days Tuesday and Wednesday, and all day Thursday and Friday off. I don't get the half-day bit at all. It really raises havoc with working parents' schedules. Aftercare today was over at 3 pm. That's it. I don't have that much flexibility in my schedule, that I can get off on time to get to the school by 3pm. I'm off Thursday and Friday. It would have been a good time to take a quick trip, except, Parent-Teacher conferences were yesterday evening (really, 11 am to 9 pm). I would have taken him out for the whole week, but the principal would have a problem with making up the conference. I actually did that once, and I didn't get a conference. So, I am taking my son out of school Oct. 31-Nov. 4, instead, which was approved by the school. Go figure.

We had fall break the first two weeks of October here in hardin county KY, as we have a modified year round calender,however I have a very good friend in the central office who says they are changing the calender for 2006-2007 to just have one week for fall break and one week for spring break instead of two and then school would end in the middle of May. I hope that's not the case but she swears its a done deal.

no fall break for our family in northern california. our school starts 3rd week in august and goes m-th 8-3/fridays 8-12. only get legal holidays off, 2 days for thanksgiving, 2 weeks at christmas, 1 week at easter. get out around june 1st. (oh and 2 half days off for parent-teacher conferences).

They had better not take any fall breaks off here LOL...seems they are out of school more than in in the month of Oct! Between COlumbus day and all the Jewish holidays that the public schools close for and the half day teacehr conferance crap the kids have not been in school a full week this month!! Its a joke the amount of time they get off from school!!

Mine starts today at 5:30pm when I finish my politics exam! It goes until Oct. 31. If I was in the US, my university wouldn't have a break, and my sister's school in CA doesn't have a break either.
