When is your school out?

Trying to pick a week in May to go to WDW. Does anyone live in an area that the public schools get out mid May? Hoping for a "not so busy" week at the World Thanks!

I think any time until Memorial weekend you'll be fine.

I honestly can't think of ANY school that gets out before the first week of June. I think you'll be safe with any date before Memorial Day. We're planning on going before Memorial Day too! Maybe we'll see you there!

I agree with everyone else! A couple of years ago our schools were due to get out the Friday before Memorial Day, but with snow days they ended adding a couple of days on at the end of the year. We are due to get June 2nd this year.

The schools in here in Central FL are almost all (if not all) out the week before Memorial Day. Here in Orange Cty we only had one hurricane day to make up this year!!!

You get out in May

I'm starting to think I'll be lucky if the school where I teech gets out before we hit July. Snow, ice, more snow, some more snow, and then a bit of snow is really starting to stretch the school year.

Hate to tell you all this...I'm in South Florida, only three to four hours from WDW and we get out of school on May 25, the Thursday before Memorial Day. We also go back this year on August 7th so I already know a lot of people planning their trips for immediately after school ends.

We're done in South Carolina on Tuesday, May 23 - 1/2 day that day. We'll be haeding down to
Disney that day! But we go back to school around August 7.

School's out here in South Mississippi on May 23.
Although Hurricane Katrina had us down and out for the entire month of September, we managed to make up several days and were "forgiven" for the rest! We really need our Disney vacay in June!!!

Wow east coast schools get out early...and of course start early as well . I graduate high school June 3rd but my last official day is june 2nd and since I am starting college, I dont start until mid to late august, but its the same for high schools here in so. california

I am going to WDW june 10-16th

I live in Arizona and our kids get out May 27. We are going June 5 and I'm hoping to avoid a lot of the European crowds as I think their schools get out later in June.

We live in New York and our schools get out in the late June 20's (I believe this year is June 24). So you don't have to worry about any New Yorkers being there!

Here in Maryland, we are always in school until at least June 14th....but if you go in May, you might see us. We always go for an 8 day trip then, before the summer crowds.

What you also have to remember at WDW there are MANY international travelers, whose "holidays aka vacations" are not always at times those of us from the US might expect. Homeschoolers, year round school schedules, etc all make it very difficult I think to try and schedule around the crowds. We have gone at times when I just could not image there being many school age children, and I am surprised every time.

Obviously there are the BUSY times, and the times that the crowds are lighter, but it has been my observation especially in this past year that the crowds are always heavier than I would have expected. Two weekends ago we so SOOOO many school groups (many of them international travelers) - one group made us laugh -they were all dressed the same in BRIGHT yellow T-Shirts and pants - you could not have overlooked one of them if you had wanted to..... it was a large sea of yellow moving around EPCOT@

Just my observation/experience in the multiple visits we have made to the parks (we average at least 3-4 visits per month Sept - May and leave the parks to the tourists in June, July & August!!!)

We get out of school on May 18 in our county in NW FL, and the other counties are all around the same date too. And Huntsville, AL gets out on May 18 as my niece is graduating that day--yeah!

I think we are the closest thing to that and we don't get out until June 2nd. I don't know of anything earlier then that. Good luck!

In the school district where I teach we are out on May 25 barring any snowdays. Since we seem to be having a mild winter, I am counting on no make up days. If we have to make up days, we will go until June 2. We are leaving for WDW on June 8th. I had to give myself a few days to panic and pack before we left!
