I’m done today for the Christmas break but I’m going back in for a single day on the 30th. Most of my staff have taken it off because having that one work day that interrupts the holiday is a real pain, especially for those who travel. I’ll suck it up this year.
Officially, Monday. I'm remote that day, however, and it will be very quiet, so I'm basically off that day.
We're shut down from Dec. 24th to Jan. 2 - the three days that aren't either holidays or weekend days are considered 'Winter Break', so we don't have to use any vacation time during that stretch.
Last real day was Thurs, 12/19. However, I am going to log in at home a couple of times to deal with some small tasks before the 2nd.
Company isn't making me, but there are a few year end closure things where it would cost me more headache to have to do them all on 1/2 than it would to just pop on for a couple of hours in my PJs at home.
Technically I'm self employed and now most often remote, so I flex my schedule a good deal of the time anyway. I'll be checking updates here and there and downloading reports and writing recommendations and reports of my own to meet needed timelines. DH is off after today so I'll probably be shifting as much as possible into early morning hours and/or late night to partake in all the holiday gatherings.
Today and I can't wait for some quiet time. When get back to the office on January 2nd, let the crazy begin as I finalize contracts and schedules for the spring semester.
