When Is Your Kids Fall Break From School?

We're in AL, and ds goes to a private school. He gets a week of in Oct, 2 weeks in Dec/Jan, 1 week in Mar (Spring Break), and a week in April (Easter). School starts on August 8th, and he gets out for the year on May 26th.

Fall break? Never lived anywhere where you get a fall break! Guess we're not living in the right place! In TX and SC you don't get those. We get one break at Easter in SC and in TX you get it in March. School starts Aug. 11 too!

Maybe you just aren't living in the right part of TX We live in Plano and my kids will have a week off Oct 1 - Oct 8. Woo Hoo!!!! Of course, I am leaving them at home with DH and heading to WDW for the food and wine festival with some friends....

Never heard of a "fall break" before. i'm in central Iowa. we get a week and a half to two weeks at Christmas depending on how the days fall, and a week in March. that's it. we start back Aug 18th and are done before Memorial Day unless we get a bunch of snow days.

We get a fall break where I live in Alabama. Ours is the week of Oct 18 and we'll be at WDW.

No fall breaks in western PA or where I grew up in Ohio. I always see threads about all kinds of school breaks but never heard of them in this area. The school district that my DS will be attending only gets the few days surrounding Easter but never a full week like alot of districts have.

No breaks in Massachusetts either. Only long weekend for Columbus day. The week between Christmas and New Years, a February break and an April break.

N Calif, we don't get a fall break but our district has the whole Thanksgiving week off. And were heading to WDW

We live in Texas and have Fall Break. We live in Plano and have always gotten one. This year it is Oct 3 - 7. We start school on Aug 8th. I know that we are one of the few school districts that have one though. I hope we continue to have them. I know the state is trying to have the school districts start later. If that happens and our district doesn't get an exception then we will no longer have them

No fall break here in Michigan either. When we were in Disney last October, there were a lot of people from Scotland we met. We talked to a number of families that said it was college break time for them.

since we are teachers and a coach, lasts for two weeks. It begins at 3PM September 30 and lasts through October 16. We are going to WDW September 30 to October 8!

In the Gulf Coast, MS - We have a Loong weekend Oct. 13 - 17th (unless we need to use those days as Hurricane Make-up days ). We also get Columbus Day off, so that means a 2-day school week (seems kind of silly, doesn't it?) - but we do get days off in Feb. for Mardi Gras also. School starts here on August 4th!!! Eeeek!!

Here in NJ public schools are usually closed the second Thursday & Friday of the month for the NJ State Teacher's Convention. Election day is Tuesday of that week, so many districts either close the whole week, or sometimes have a teacher's workshop on Wednesday. It is a week that many NJ families travel to WDW!! We did it one year and it is more crowded than usual, but still within acceptable amounts. Other than a long weekend for Columbus, and Thanksgiving, we have no other fall break. Sounds good though!!! Since DD is in Catholic school, time off in November is just for me!!!!

Our school district has a fall break Oct 10 to Oct 17. Since our elementary schools go year round, they start school Wed, go for 9 weeks off 3.... the middle schools and High schools(they start Aug 19) take their brake the week of the 10th, this way parents don't have to take the kids "out" for vacation time. We also get a Christmas break, and Spring break too.

It's going to be an interesting year for us.. dd 5 starts kdg and dd 14 highschool

we are heading to Fort Wilderness and 2 nights of MNSSHP

I live in Pensacola, Fl. Our school district has only done a fall break for the past two years...this will be the third year. Last year the kids fall break was cancelled because the school was closed for three weeks due to hurricane Ivan. I think it was implemented here because they have started school earlier every year. The first day of school will be Aug 2nd. Last year the fall break was supposed to be the week of Oct.18th, our trip last year was 10/15-10/23 and we went anyway. This year it is the week of Oct 3 hopefully no hurricane will cancel it too, but I guess we will go anyway since the trip is already paid for and I couldn't bear to dissappoint my kids.

We live in Guatemala and DD4's school has the first break (of 5) from Oct 20th to Nov 1st. Both starting and ending days are holidays, Revolution Day and All Saints Day (Catholic holiday) and.... WE ARE GOING TO WDW ON THOSE DAYS!!!!
