When is the 2004 Marathon?

I know the resorts start to fill up right before the Marathon, so I am planning our 2004 vacation and was wondering when the marathon is? We were there last year and found the resort to be filling up quickly by the end of the week.

January 12! I'd book now if you are planning to go during that weekend. You can always apply codes later.

The marathon weekend starts the 10th with the 10K Family Fun Run, the toddler races and the infant diaper dash too! The marathon itself is Sunday the 11th. Registrations are still being accepted for the full marathon but the 1/2 is closed now.

Is it typically more crowded at the parks the week *after* the marathon (Jan 12 -16)? We're arriving Jan 11, the day of the marathon, and I had hoped for a quiet week.

Yes you will get fewer crowds after the marathon (which is Jan.11 - I was incorrect - sorry about that!). The following weekend is Martin Luther King weekend which will bring crowds as well. I think you will hit it just right - between these busy weekends. It is a great time to go to WDW. Weather can be anywhere from tropical to freezing, so pack a fleece or two!

DH is running the Half this year. He ran the whole last year and had a great time. We stayed the entire week after and I was worried about crowds given the number of participants in the race. I was afraid they would all stay and we would have long delays at all the good stuff. But I am happy to say the crowds were great!!! We had almost no wait time - even at Test Track where we normally wait 20-30 min even in value season. That was one of the reason we are doing it again this year - DH gets to run and the family gets a relaxing week at the parks. Enjoy.
