When is Pop Century Opening?

Has anyone heard anything lately about a possible opening date for PC? I'm going solo in September and I'm looking for an inexpensive option. Have done AS twice before, was hoping for something new!

the word now is that there are no plans to open pop century at this time. Construction is stopped. As a matter of fact they have even built wooden walls along the road that blocks the view of the unfinished resort

Really?? I had read from a number of posters that they are still working on it and would probably open at least part of the resort next spring. Anyone else know??

...Pop Century is set to open, depending on which rumors you hear, between early summer and early autumn. In fact, if you go to wdwmagic.com, there are pix showing furniture and furnishings both inside the lobby and inside the rooms. That seems to imply that Disney's improved business these days warrants a re-evaluation of the resort's opening.

Also, the stock holder's report from several months ago implies a fall opening date.

When I called CRO 2 weeks ago to check on room rates for Jan. 2003 I asked if Pop Centry would be open yet and the person I talked to told me it is scheduled to open in spring of 2003.

So many rumors on Pop Century. No one can possibly keep up with them all, and most cannot possibly be true.

Probably (unless things have changed recently) no definite opening date has been decided, though it seems early 2003 (January - March) might have been a tentative opening date. That may yet be accurate, but since the resort opening was postponed due to the downturn in business, the situation has changed somewhat. French Quarter wasn't supposed to reopen until Fall, but high guest demand will apparently see it open for June. The possibility of Disney also accelerating Pop Century's opening to this summer is very possibly just speculation or wishful thinking, but it does make sense so long as the business is there. This idea would support what Phil said above (and others have made similar comments). However, Disney would have to annouce such an opening with some lead time to permit CRO to actually book the rooms, so if nothing happens soon, I wouldn't count on a summer opening.

Essentially, I wouldn't be shocked to see some PC buildings open either by late summer, early fall, Christmas, or next year!
