When is "New Jersey Week"

Please tell me it's the first week of November and not the second....

NJ Week starts tomorrow. We'll be on the road by 9am and get to Orlando for a late lunch on Sunday. The biggest influx of guests is later in the week - Wednesday and on.

I don't believe it will make much of a difference this year, the resorts seem to be pretty packed the whole month. I had hoped to miss it but our AP's expire on Nov 16, we're arriving Nov. 7 for 9 nights.

OK What is NJ week??? I'll be there next week and hotels are pretty booked!

NJ week is so named because NJ schools are closed on Thur and Frid for teacher conferences. Some also close 1/2 day or full day on Weds. And still others also close Tues. for Election day. End result - many families take the week off since the kids miss at most 3 days of school. Of course, WDW is the most popular destination. Since the other 49 states are still in school, its a great time to go crowdwise.

NJ Teacher's Convention is November 6 + 7 this year and all schools are closed on those days. I'm just curious...is NJ the only state that has a teacher's convention?

I've only lived in 5 other states (other than in NJ right now) & I've never heard of a "Teacher Convention." There's only been one teacher of my son (he's in 8th grade now) that has gone to the convention, and not both days. It doesn't seem to be Union requirement so I don't think a lot of the teachers from S. New Jersey go (don't know about North Jersey.) Basically, it just seems to be a few more days off for all (I think they might be in school for a whole week right after Thanksgiving) I used to think the convention was in the Bahamas since a good portion of the teachers came back with tans!!!
