When is New Jersey Week in 2004?

My kids have off Nov. 5th, 6th, 7th, and 10th, and 11th.

The teacher's convention is Nov 6 and 7 (Thursday and Friday). A prior school district we lived in always had that whole week off (this year it would have been the week of Nov 3). The current district has those two convention days plus Monday the 10th and Tuesday the 11th (Veteran's day). That would allow a 6 day trip without any missed school days. So I would suspect that the "Jersey week" may actually be up to a two week, or at least 10 day, period where people with school age children in NJ can get away with minimum school disruption.

I cannot believe that a little state like New Jersey puts the rest of the world in a panic! LOL Do we really make that much of a difference in crowds? I have never known anybody who goes to Disney during the November Teachers Conventions and I have lived here all my life! Are we really that bad? I feel so powerfull, yet unloved!

Our school district has on the 5th and 6th (Friday and Sat) for state teachers conference, not as generous as other school districts in the State. I have noticed a bit of an obsession on these boards about "Jersey Week." What gives?

Does Jersey Week really make much of a difference in crowds? Over the years I have known a few families that have taken advantage of that week. I would like to try it in 2004 since we were in WDW in May 2003. Now I'm really curious about this.

When living in the school district that closed for the week, I actually did make two trips to WDW during the "dreaded" Jersey week. My own opinion is that a good number of people do go from NJ during that time, and it makes the parks more crowded than you might expect for that time of year. It was nothing like Easter week, but many go then expecting it to be dead and find it isn't so. Plus park hours were short as compared to the summer, so it compressed the people there even more. The weather was great that time of year for walking around the parks. As long as you don't mind being shoulder to shoulder with people wearing Bruce Springsteen shirts and eating salt water taffy!

Overall, if our schools now had that week off I would still be going then.

Before we went last year during "Jersey Week" that what I thought - how crowded could it be its only one state! Well it seemed like the whole state came down! We're from DE so we fly out of Philly and the rest of our plane was from NJ headed to WDW. That time period is value season but it looked more like a summer crowd! Now we normally go during low attendance times so the crowd was quite a shock. Even the cm's know about Jersey Week, they would ask what part of NJ we were from????? For NJ people with school kids it is a great time to go since its value season and the weather is usually very nice and although it was crowded I'm sure a summer/holiday crowd would be even worse. I wish DE had a statewide teacher conference during the school year!!!

Well, I'm practically your neighbor - live in Cherry Hill and work in Camden - and I know lots of people who go to WDW during that week. In fact, I even know some teachers who are going this year. I guess they aren't required to go to the convention if they have whatever credits they need to have.

We went last year for the first time (our daughter started public school last year). Virtually everyone we encountered was from NJ. While standing in line for one ride, I said to my wife, "I wonder how many people here are from NJ." Several people in front of and behind us all volunteered they were from NJ. It got to be pretty funny by the end of the week.

Were the crowds bad? No. It was busier than usual for that time of year, but still off-season levels. We hardly waited for anything. We'll be there again this year.

I believe in 2004,"Jersey Week" is the 2nd week of November that year. I think the teachers convention is the week of NOv 6th thru 13th as we will be on the Disney Magic at that time, and the group booked it to coincide with the Teachers convention week.

Jersey week is usually considered the week the actual convention takes place. This year the convention is Thur. Nov. 6th & Fri. Nov. 7th. Most school districts in NJ that give extra days off usually give the days before the convention...the 3rd, 4th and 5th. However, some are giving the following Mon. the 10th and Tues. the 11th to tie into Veterans Day this year. Anyway, no matter which week us Jersey folks are going in November it can't be as crowded as the other peak times of the year.

Hi from Mt Laurel we only get the actual 2 days of the convention off and nothing the following week. The convention is always the 1st Thursday and Friday of the month. And no our teachers are not required to go. We have taken the kids out of school for 3 days and have gone down twice. Yes everyone is from NJ (booking a direct flight is the biggest challange) but the crowds are never bad. We never waited more than 10-15 mints. and if was longer it was usually for a fast pass attraction, so we took advantage of it.

You would be surprised. My hubby work at the Catalog Outlet in VA and there is never a weekend that goes by where someone from NJ has not stopped in on their way down or from WDW. Jersey week is becoming a major consideration now for most when setting plans to visit in November. I'm surprised that WDW doesn't consult NJ now and extend the park hours during this timeframe.

Here is the link for future dates. It is a very popular week to pull the kids out and vacation.I know many districts give the whole week off for that reason. This year we have Thur Fri and Mon off.

It seems that people are getting nuts about this Jersey week thing. It will be my first time in WDW at Jersey week time of year and I'm starting to get a little nervous about the crowd level being higher than I anticipated. Common sense tells me that the crowds can't compare with other busy times of the year,but I'm still a bit nervous. I sold my wife on going this week in Nov. because I told her the crowd levels would be low. I hope I wasn't wrong.

In recent years, we've been to WDW at various times of year (March, June, September, October, December, etc.). Last year, we went during Jersey week. The crowds were minimal, maybe a tad larger than one might otherwise expect for that time of year, but still firmly at off-season levels. There was nothing that had an unusually long line. We did fastpass some attractions, but other than that, I don't think we waited longer than 10-15 minutes for anything in any of the parks.

I think the fuss about Jersey week is overblown based on our experience last year. We'll be there again this year. I really see no reason to be concerned about the crowds.

I think for us the funniest thing was we saw so many New Jersey people especially from our home town. Our local dance school was performing that week so everywhere we turned we saw people we new.
I don't think the crowds were that bad.I just wish that Disney would stay open a little later.

It not just this tread taking about Jersey week, there are a few other threads in other forums discussing this topic. Reading them all was getting me a little nuts. Some people are posting things like "you would be surprised how crowded it is" and "I would stay away from going that week".

You've help calm me down....again thanks.
