Honestly, do you think that 4 years old is too young to start my daughter on pin collecting/trading? I thought it might be fun for her to trade and socialize, but I'm not sure.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Melissa

I think personally that any age can enjoy it. I started my grand-nephew when he turned two and he loves it. My only caveat is to do it with them. And start out only trading with CMs.

Even at 4, they can have fun trading with CM lanyards and in the kids' area at WDW sponsored pin meets.

My DD is now 8.5, but she has been trading for about three years. I think you can help them by asking them what pins they like, and helping them spot those favorites.

But beware of any adult who approaches your child and wants to trade from their lanyard. Sadly, the waters are not always safe. :( Every experienced trader can probably tell a tale of watching a shark try to pick pins off a kid.

There are many adult traders who keep a separate book or page for kid trades. But make sure it's someone you know before you let your child engage the trader.

Thank you very much for your opinions. I appreciate it.

Melissa
