This may sound like a silly question, but I would still like to know your answers. At what point does a photograph album become a "scrapbook"?

To me it becomes a scrapbook when you add in stories and other memoriablia to make it more than just looking at pictures.

I have seen scrapbooks made in regular albums.

I agree with Rebecca - not only seen them, but made them. Sometimes I put a title on cardstock in one of the photo squares, or some journaling in another. Also, I've done a combination of scrapped pages and divided pages in the same album. It's VERY liberating!

I would say it becomes a scrapbook when you've added embellishments, titles or journaling to the page. I really want to try the mixed books. I take so many pictures that there is no way I can scrap them all ... usually just scrap my favorites but don't want to not hold onto the others as well. Maybe that should be a project for 2010.
Can you actually buy 12 x 12 pages that will just hold photos.

That.
When it's not just pictures, when you've journalled your story and added other bits and baubles to the pages.

I have just moved my scrapping over to We R Memory books.

The albums they have are more of a 15x12 book, but have a D style, 3 ring binder, and they have the 12x12 pages, for full page layouts, and they have many options for other photo placements:
- the 6 photo, 4x6 photo layout
- the 6 photo, 6x4 photo layout
- the nine photo layout (9-3"x3")
- and many more options with a 6"x12" half page with two photo slots.

Check out the Joann's website. I found the page options I was looking for there and I found a code for free shipping too.

Pebbles and We R Memory Makers has some great 12 x 12 page protectors that just hold photos.. here are a few websites I found that have them..

I bought some of the 12 x 12 6- 6 x 4 portrait and 12 x 12 6 - 4x 6 vertical pages and they are great!!!

Here are some links:

Blended book by LindaBabe w/ scrapbook pages & the page protectors w/ photos

Personally, it becomes a scrapbook when I tell the story and add embellishments. My family loves to relive the memories this way!!! I find they gravitate towards my scrapbooks more than just the albums full of photos.. that is why w/ the older photos I'm trying to utililize the page protectors to insert the photos and small journaling blocks to get them done quicker...
