When is fall break?

After reading the "when does school start thread," I started wondering about fall breaks. Do you have a fall break? If so, when is it & how long (long weekend or full week)? Thanks.

We get a week fall break that the school district started three years ago. We have been to Disney 2 out of the 3 years and are going back this year. The break, this year, is from Oct. 11-15.

New Jersey has November 5th and 6th for Teacher's Convention.

Last Thursday and Friday here in Wisconsin. DS usually gets the Wednesday off too. I have our trip in 2005 planned around these days.

Our kids have a fall break from October 11th to October 15th. And guess where we'll be? Disneyworld!:hyper:

We get off the first two weeks of October here. I guess there are some advantages to starting back so early (teachers July 28th and kids August 2nd).

Yep, I'm going to Disneyworld--see countdown below!

Initially our fall break was set for October 11-15, 2004, but after the schedules were published it was suddenly changed to the next week, October 18-23.

I assume that the change was the result of someone noticing that the national date for the PSAT exam was during the week of the 11th, which would obviously present a problem since those tests are administered during school hours.

We're in Texas, but Plano gets an exemption every year from the state of Texas so we can start early- Aug 4! Then we get a Fall break the first week of October. That's why we'll be at Disney World Oct 2-9!! I'm really excited- the only other time I've been was my honeymoon... now my daughter is seven!

School doesn't even start for my DGDs here in NJ until Sept 13, so there is no fall break. The only days off in the fall are, teacher's convention days Nov 5,6 and Thanksgiving and the following day. Some towns also get Columbus Day and Election Day, but each school district makes up it's own school calendar.

Here in Chattanooga, TN, my son in a private school has his Fall Break on Oct 11-15. That seems to be a popular week for other schools as well. When we were at WDW last year during his Fall Break, it was crowded - especially over the first weekend (Columbus Day). Things thinned out a little as the week went on, but it was still much more crowded than our Sept trips the 2 previous years.

Alas, we will be at WDW during Fall Break again this year since a bad day at WDW is better than a good day at work! :earsboy:

Our break was the week of Halloween until last year, when they moved it to the week of Columbus Day. I get to take one less vacation day, but accomodation bargains are much harder to find that week.

Fall break??? What "fall break" ...we got no "fall break" here?? What's up with that, they still start school in mid August too. Just Thanksgiving and a day once a month for teacher planning, hmmm, why don't we get a "fall break"???:hyper: :hyper:

We are out October 4-15. Now on a "modified" school calendar. 2 weeks off in October and 2 weeks off for spring break, in addition to Christmas break. Still go 180 days like before, just re-arranged a little.

Last year was the first year and it worked very well. Our trip is planned along with my family's time off from Kentucky, which is October 11-15 as well.

Man I hope it's not too crowded, but it seems as if it will be a lot of Tennesseans there!

Yep .... we'll be there from Sun 10/10 to Sun 10/17. At least five of us will be. My daughter, who is a college freshman, only gets one or two days off and won't be joining us. How sad!

No Fall Break here, we don't even get a Spring Break. They'll get off between Christmas and New Years and if there aren't any snow days to make up they'll get time off around Easter. But schools are closed the Monday after Thanksgiving for the 1st day of hunting season.
