After hearing so much about how rude and obnoxious they were I got to wondering when do they come out? I have my trip for March planned so can't avoid them but might be on the look out.

Its been my experiance that the spring time/ summer is when they tend to be at disney i dont remember seeing many groups in march so you should be all set however there may be a couple of groups not as many as there will be going towards april/may/june though. I totally agree with you they are very obnoxious.

How bad do you think it will be May 21 - 29?? I know MGM will have the Star Wars thing going on, but what about the rest of the parks? I have never encountered the Brazilians and would like to keep it that way! LOL
Thanks,Darlene

You know while tour groups of any kind are often very obnoxious as are a lot of other people, this thread is really offensive in singling out Brazilians.

Yes, this is true, but have you ever been there while they were there? We were one year and it was real bad! Alot of people were getting very mad with them.

This thread makes me laugh, as I've always heard stories of when DBF and his cousins were around 13 and were in WDW at the same time as the Brazillian tour groups.. they used to follow around the Brazillian girls and drool. See, not everyone hates them!

They year of my CP I was working at thunder and we had one of the tour groups come on.... We dispatched a very full train and as they were going up the first hill the group leader stood up and video taped them... I asked them politely to sit down no go.... they get to the second hill hes still standing... i say it again nope didnt move so before they get over the hill i hit the kill switch.... I had to it was for thier own safety.... the tour guide didnt see it that way and got into my managers face about it saying he didnt hear me he didnt understand english and why it was such a big deal for him to be standing....(in perfect english of course) when we shut down a ride we have to go out and e-vac the entire ride (all 5 trains were running that day) with 5 trains running it takes a good 30 minutes to restart the ride.... just because this one group could not obey the rules every one else was put out for the day.... tell me that thats not obnoxious....

Not only are they rude but they need to cover their bodies a little more. I am sorry, but 50+ y.o. men with bellies do not need to prance around family-oriented water parks in Speedos that are 2 sizes too small!!!

This doesn't necessarily have to do with the Brazilian tour groups, or the spring time frame, but thought it was interesting.
I went down to Santiago Chile in the beginning of October, and on the way down (left from Atlanta) the plane was FULL of a huge group of chilean young adults (looked early 20's) and they had just come from a trip to Disneyworld. During loading they were very talkative, and I was a little worried with them being young, and it being an overnight flight, but never had any problems. I sat next to one, and he was very pleasant. He told me about their group and their WDW trip.
I assumed due to the weak dollar alot of South American groups travel there, as in this case, early October....And I think I read on other posts about South American visitors being alot more frequent in the parks. Just a thought.

my only outburst at anyone in my entire trip taking carrear at WDW was this past july when a couple of girls from one of these brazilian tour groups, i am sure of this due to the shrits they were wearing, actually tried to cut us off while we were in line so almost 40 of their friends could cut in front of us. i was quite angry and yelled for a CM. i have not problem when a person holds a place for a few people but this was truly a very inconsiderate act. all i asked the CM to do is to just let us go on the ride in the place where we were originally in the first place. the tour guide even had the nerve to tell me to relax. well actually i had the last laugh here because in their haste they didnt get on the fastpass line and had to leave anyway because their fastpasses werent even for this ride :rotfl: :rotfl:

we saw the tour groups many many times during the rest of our vacation and if they were headed to a particular attraction we just headed the other way.

I just noticed your post, right after I posted mine, and saw your avatar!! I am a HUGE Michelle Kwan fan! Had to say hi! :Pinkbounc

I guess my whole point is that a lot of people do a lot of really obnoxious things while at WDW. Some of the issues are differences in culture and some of them are just plain rudeness. To single out Brazilian groups as a whole just seems really wrong.

You know what? I used to think the same thing when I saw these posts. Then I went to WDW last July when the Brazilians were there and they were absolutely the worst. Sorry if that sounds wrong - just telling it las we saw it. Rude is rude and we saw plenty of it.

mymatisse-- I fully agree and understand with what you're saying, although I believe that anyone in their right mind understands that Brazilian groups being annoying is a huge generalization... obviously not all Brazilians act rudely because it is the same as a stereotype concerning any other country. :flower:

Living close by and going at all times of the year, I get to see all the different tour groups. I have to say that the Brazillian ones are by far the worst. Even worse than the spring breakers. Because of that we try to avoid going when they are there.

As for the original question, they usually come right after July 4th and stay until the beginning of August. It is different groups during this time, but I think that half of Brazil is at WDW durining that time frame.

I did see some tour groups in Jan when I was there.

There was one large Brazilian group (all wearing matching t-shirts with the Brazilian flag) that we passed in Animal Kingdom the week before Christmas. I was surprised, as this seemed "off season." It was a very large group and I was glad we were headed the opposite direction, simply based on the size.

I agree we must remember that there are exceptions, but when the Unofficial Guide singles them out as the subject that creates the most mail, it is a problem associated with this particular group.
