As the title says, when is best to book flights? Our flights have just become available to book as we have our hotel booked for 27/11 - 12/12 and we're hoping to tag on a further week funds allowing.

Virgin have a sale on right now and prices look good, only problem being we cant afford them until after payday - which is after the sale ends. If I'm waiting until after the sale is over, does anyone know if prices are likely to fall at any point? Or would you book as soon as you have the money?

That's always a gamble. Generally. domestically in the US, airlines prices will start going up 2 months before the flight. You might get a sale again between that time but It's not a guarantee.

We always try to book as soon as we find a price that suits us. The Virgin prices at the moment are great, but not too much lower that before the sale. Can you book with a deposit only?

Hi Merlin, we can book with a deposit, but dont know where we could do that? We're looking to fly from Scotland if possible or Manchester with as few stops as possible as our youngest will be 22 months.

November 27th to December 12th are our hotel dates. I'm hoping to stay on for up to a week after that though, so until maybe 18th Dec. We're 2 adults and 2 kids 7 and 22 months. I'm feeling a bit lost with all the different sites and possibilities.

I have just looked at your dates - 2 adults, 1 child & 1 infant

£1319 with a with a FlyDrive with BA

Edinburgh > Gatwick and then direct from Gatwick to MCO
(for some reason when I searched it suggested flying to Heathrow the making your way across to LGW - but I just changed it in the flight options to make it the most suitable flight)

Deposit it £300

You could fly from Glasgow and cost is £1253.

Both seem like good prices to me - but perhaps that is because I normal have to book flights for 4 adults these days!

hi, we have just booked our virgin flights for sept with florida4less, had great service from them and the prices dont go up once you have paid the deposit, maybe worth looking at your dates

Its worth having a look at charter travel - their prices are about the same as the airlines and you can book and pay a deposit

Have a look at aer lingus for your dates...a little bit more 1571 but timings look better and going via dublin means that you've done all the customs and immigration before you land in orlando
