My son just turned six in October and we brought a stroller when we went in November. It is a lot of walking--even I get tired and I would rather have my son not be tired--therefore not cranky-- than to try to have him keep up with our pace.
I think you are going to have to decide if your child can keep up without a stroller. If you find that he/she can't than you can always rent one.
