I'm in the early stages of planning a week long trip in October 2006. Any thoughts on the preferred time. I know that Epcot has the Food& Wine fest all month which sounds good, MK has the NSS Halloween Party later in the month which sounds possibly like a waste of time, and I also have the Funai Golf Tourney which does not interest me around the 20th which may increase crowds at the parks. Any input is appreciated. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Hi,
I went last year the first week in October, and I liked it so much I'm going back this year the same week. It wasn't too crowded and the temperature was perfect. The only complaint I could have was the weather. It rained every day for some part of the day. I think you run that risk any time in the fall, though. Luckily the showers were scattered and didn't ruin our trip. As for the Halloween party, I bought tickets for the third night we were there, which was a Sunday. I loved the party so much that I bought tickets to go back on the following Thursday. It was the highlight of my trip. What is it that you think you won't like? The rides were all walk-on, with no lines whatsoever (be careful of the night you go though, I hear Fridays are always crowded), the fireworks were the best I've ever seen (like them better than Wishes), and the parade was great. And I'm not a parade person. I also have no kids, I'm an adult and loved it for my own reasons. If you have questions about it, ask away. It might just not be your thing, I suppose.

I forgot, one more thing. The F & W looked great, but we didn't eat much of the food since we were there on the free dining plan. Some of the stands offered items that were considered a snack on the plan, but most were separate. If you're not going on the dp, I'd definitely consider the F & W as one reason to go at that time of year. I will say that we made the mistake of going to Epcot on the Saturday night that we got there, which was the first weekend of F & W. It was packed!!! You couldn't even move. I think this was mostly due to locals, though, because the rest of the week wasn't bad at all.

I didn't mean to offend MNSSHP fans. It sounded like a neat concept to me that the kid's would really enjoy but it seemed like everything that I read on these boards and in the Unofficial Guide indicated that crowds were too large for any interaction with the characters. Does it run all month? I assume that crowds are lighter early in the month.

Anyone know when the dates for the Halloween Party will be out? My sister & I are going to go in October but are waiting for this information.

Thanks!

We are trying to plan our vacation for this upcoming Oct. We are planning on staying at the Poly. :thumbsup2 I believe the beginning of Oct. is the best time to visit since it is not as crowded :wizard: The main reason we are going is because of the MNSSHP. Some people say they prefer MNSSHP over the MVMCP. I do not know. I love them both. :disrocks:

Have a Disney Day

Don't worry, I'm unoffendable. I read the section in the UG about it too before I went and almost didn't go at all since the UG reports terrible crowds. When I asked here, I was told that the crowds depend on the week in October and the day of the week that you choose. I guess it's always crowded Halloween week, and it's always crowded on Friday nights. I really think you'll have fun if you go during the week at the beginning of October.

I also havent seen any firm datres for NSSHP.

2005 dates were: September 30, October 2, 6, 7, 11, 13, 16, 20, 21, 23, 25, 27, 28, 30, 31

I plan on being at WDW for a week so I feel safe that I have have a few days to choose from. pixiedust:
