We're looking at November for our next possible trip, instead of waiting until May 2006. What's the best time? My DS' birthday is the 24th, which is Thanksgiving this year, but I don't really want to be there during the holiday crowds. If we go this year, we'll probably end up staying in a value resort, are there any large groups in Nov? We have 2 little ones, in Nov they will be (almost) 5 and 2-1/2.

Thanks for any suggestions
Steph

Steph,

November is a great time to go. I am going this November and the next November. The EPCOT food and wine festival runs from the beginning of October through November 16th. That might attract a lot of people to EPCOT, but with two little ones, you will probably be spending more time at MK. There is also something called "Jersey week". I believe this is the first week of November every year. The New Jersey schools are out and apparently people flock to Disney World.

I would think the second or third week of November would be perfect. However, if you wait until November 27th, you will be in the Value season and be able to get cheaper rates at the resorts.

Good luck! I hope you have a great time!

We are going Nov. 18-25. So we are flying home on Black Friday. I have read in many places it does not start getting crowded till Thanksgiving Day. So we are going then.

Perfect DS only misses 2 days of School and I only use 3 days of vacation. I am just giddy with excitement now.

Now to make payments and save away!

Congratulations!! It is so exciting actually booking!! That will be a perfect time to go.

If you want to avoid crowds the week before Thanksgiving is the best! As you can see below we like to go in Nov. It is also my B-day, on the 22nd so I like to call it my B-day trip! This is usually a great time to go because you get there when the crowds are leaving from Super soap weekend, Jersey week, F&W festival, Vet's day. You leave right before the Thanksgiving crowds arrive. So, we will be there from Nov. 13-21. The weather is absolute heaven, high 70's low 80's with little to no rain. This is our favorite time to go and we are from NY and love that we can swim in Nov.!!! :cool1:

Go after the first full week. The beginning of November is "Jersey Week" since NJ schools are closed for teacher conferences. November is such a great time. The weather is always great and the crowds are lower. Plus the food and wine festival is fun.

Our last trip in '98 we went the week before Thanksgiving. Some Christmas decorations were up and others were going up. There were no crowds. We went in '89 the first week in Nov and it wasn't crowded, but I keep hearing it's affected now by Jersey Week and the Food and Wine Festival. Regardless, my DH & I are going the first full week of Nov (6-13) this year, without our 2 DS who are away at college. I still think the fall before Thanksgiving and the winter after Christmas are the best times to go for crowds and weather. During Jersey Week, I just can't imagine that NJ has that big of an impact on crowds. Everyone in NJ doesn't go to WDW during this time. Schools in VA also have a couple of days off the beginning of Nov. This is usually at the end of the first marking period so techers can do report cards and conferences. I'm sure that's why NJ and a lot of other states have a few days off then. They don't have the whole week from what I've heard. But, most people I know still go to WDW in the heat of the summer.

We were there during "Jersey Week" this past year, and it was not too bad... there are alot of Jersey folks there, but we had fun talking with them. We never waited more than 20 mins for anything except Kilimanjaro Safari, but we went at a very crowded time of the day, and didn't use Fastpass, so we could have waited less with more planning.

November is a great time to go- lower humidity, lower temps (but still warm enough to go swimming), lower crowds. We are planning a late October-early November trip this year, too.

One thing to consider: if you don't want to be there during "Jersey Week" and Super Soap Weekend, I THINK they are overlapping this year. Jersey Week is usually the first week of Nov, but this year it is the second. The actual dates are Nov 10 and 11, I think. Someone from Jersey can correct me if I'm wrong.

This year Vet's day is Nov.11th. Wow, Vet's day, Super Soap weekend, Jersey week, and F&W festival all in one weekend!! :earseek:

I think the combo of all those will make it crowded that week before and during that weekend.

Here's the info for NJ teachers convention:

Nov. 2005 dates are Nov. 10, 11, and 12(Thurs, Fri, Sat)

I would go out there the Sat. of Thanksgiving week and stay the following week. Everyone will be going home from the Thanksgiving week, and the Christmas crowds will not have started yet.

We went last Nov the week before Thanksgiving. Most of our week was great and we were walking on to rides. We got very spoiled :D
The friday before Thanksgiving it started to get a crowded and the Saturday before Thanksgiving it was even worse.
We loved going this week since it was Value season and the decorations were going up for Christmas.

I have also gone the week after Thanksgiving and thought that was a great time also but that was 10 years ago.
Since Value season does not start until the 27th this year we are going to wait until the week after Thanksgiving. Hopefully the crowds will be lighter again.

We were planning on going Dec. 5-11, but my MIL can't take any time off from work in December. So we're looking at November. I can't believe they changed November to regular season! :guilty:

Does this mean alot of people will wait until the 27th of November to go? So it might be a lighter crowd the week before Thanksgiving?

If I can't convince my husband it will be worth the extra $, I will have to wait until Feb. 2006. I just can't wait that long!!! :faint:

Good point weluvdisny. I didn't think about how crowded that might make it the week after Thanksgiving. Something to think about now!

We got just as spoiled that week! When Friday came, the crowds started flowing in. Saturday and Sunday were our last 2 days, and we couldn't stay in the MK - it was a mob scene! Our DD is 5 and likes to ride her favorite MK rides on our last day, but all we could manage was the TTA and CoP before we ran out of there! You know it's crowded when there's a line for TTA! :earseek: :D
