when in january

We are thinking of going in January. When during the month is the best time to go? I need to decide because the 7 month window is approaching. I think we will want to stay at AKV. Thanks for any help.

I've gone several times in January - and all times are good but if you can avoid the third Monday of January weekend (Martin Luther King Day) as that weekend is just INSANE! Not that you can't work around it, but if you're flexible I would steer clear of it.

Once you get past the New Year's crunch (a few days) January is pretty quiet. You'll notice a slight increase in crowds on the MLK weekend, but its really not a problem.

We just went this past January beginning with the MLK Holiday weekend. It wasn't bad at all. The weather was cool some days, warm others, but not cold. The crowds during the week after MLK Monday were gone. We went this week because my girls only had two half days of school that week because of high school testing, MLK Holiday, and a teachers' in-service day. My girls are still in elementary and middle school.

We generally go the first 2 weeks of Jan. The first week after the New Year you will see a slight decrease in the crowds, but the second week is great!!
This is if you plan on doing the parks.

We have learned to enjoy the resort the first week and the parks the second. Even though the resorts are sold out the last few days of Dec and first few of Jan., its hard to believe this when you are at the resorts
