When I call A Structural Engineerer about out cracked house foundation

are they going to only let me know what needs to be done or do they actually do the work also?

The engineer wont likey have anything to do with the work, how ever they may be able to recommenmd a crew, personally ui would look into a repair company first and see if they recommend and engineers report, it might be un eccesary andf an expensive trip to boot,, the one in our area doesnt even recommend any conrteactors and he charges 800 just to look at whjat is there any actually figuring beyond the ewalk through is extra, most time a foundaion contrasctor cn answer and repair foir alot less.

Most engineers will not bother with such a small problem. You need to find a company that is advertised as cracked slab experts/repairs. Look in the yellow pages.

One of my neighbors had to have a foundation crack fixed before she was able to sell her house. I remember that the engineer determined what needed to be done, but someone else had to do the actual work of filling the crack. From what I recall, it was costly.

My uncle owns a foundation repair company. I believe he does all the work himself (without an engineer). I was worried about my foundation when I first moved into this house. My uncle assessed my foundation himself - luckily it was only minor - and told me some preventative steps to take so the foundation doesn't get worse.
