when/how to request THV/rooms/views?

hi there!

we were able to book THV for 6 nights at the end of january.

i've read alot about people requesting specific rooms or views or proximity to certain places. i know that it's not guaranteed or anything but how do you make these requests? call MS? when do you call? can you do it online?

also, and recommendations on what treehouses are the best as far as proximity to the buses and places to eat?

also, i see that you have to take a bus to get to the park buses. can you just walk to the main bus depot?

If you have requests, just make them when you make your reservation. If you didn't do that already, just call MS and ask them to add your request to your reservation.

Deb covered the request part. As for proximity to the buses, I don't think any treehouses are very far from one of the two bus stops. I was able to walk from the Southern end of THV to the entrance gate in less than 10 minutes. If being very close is important to you, I would just request that. There are no restaurants in THV. You can walk to the main building at SSR in about 10 minutes from the Southern THV or take a boat to SSR or DTD.

You can walk to the Grandstand area to catch a bus. Maybe 5-7 minutes.

Were you able to book at 7 months?

great info! we booked at 9 months. ssr is our home resort but we only just booked. originally wanted december but all month was booked so we did end of january.

sounds like you don't really need to use the THV and can just walk to the regular SSR buses.

You can, but...

My only caveat to this is that it is much more convienient to do this from the southern end of the THV than the Northern end. We were in 7005 and I went to mapmyrun.com and we were actually closer to the OKW HH bus stop than the SSR Grandstand one. If you request a villa on the Southern end, you will be near the Pool and the walkway to the Grandstand. If you are at the northern end, you will be near the road. My suggestion is that if you have a car, the northern end is fine. If you don't have a car, then I think that the southern end is a little better.

Have a great time at the THV. They are our new favorite accomodations at Disney. I wonder if you will be as taken with them as we were. They far exceeded what we had expectations of going in from the pictures. They feel much bigger than they are, mainly, I think, due to the high ceilings...

thanks - i will definitely request a villa in the southern end. i would really like to be able to walk to the main buses and just skip the THV bus. our son will be 19 months in january so we will have a stroller.

we are taking my aunt, uncle, and their three kids who are 10, 9, and 7 and i bet they will LOVE being in a treehouse!

is there a map of SSR with THV floating around anywhere? the one that stopher posted doesn't have the THV numbering and since i've never stayed at SSR so i'm actually not sure about where grandstand, etc are in relation to THV.

I don't remember seeing a numbered map posted although you will get one at check in. There are 60 THVs and they are numbered from the Northern end in a counterclockwise fashion. I think those in the lower 30s are closest to the walkway to the Grandstand.

In Stopher's map the inset shows THV relative to the rest of SSR although it is hard to see. The area on the lower right of THV is the Grandstand area.
