when for you does the excitment turn to stress then relaxed again?

You know, we all had a good dig at you with your packing cases 3 months out but I spent an hour or so this evening re-typing my packing list (the old one went with the hard drive of the other computer :headache: and fortunately I have the old tatty book where the original list was marked out a few years ago). I can't believe I am being so organised. Must be the positive inspiration. ;)

thank god im good for something:rotfl2:]
i do have to add some things ive brought in the last few weeks, including a lime green sundress and some lime green t s and trousers:rotfl2:
no one will wonder if i dis!!!

It wasn't meant to diminish other peoples worries. But you can see how we feel, if we forget to pack socks or something, really it's nothing is it?

I understand what you are saying - what I don't understand is my body's reaction to a stress that I can't really do anything about.

Still it's interesting to read what causes everyone's stress levels to rise.

I have clinical OCD and part of it, to explain it simply, involves scenarios of family and friends being killed/dying and then my feeling responsible. It also involves all sorts of compulsions.

So, beforehand (for weeks), I have panic attacks about something going wrong, and that it being my fault as I chose the dates, flights, etc etc etc.

It seems to get worse every time - DF had to tell me to book the holiday as I nearly didn't as its getting too much

Kevin, I understand completely where you're coming from :goodvibes

:confused3

More than that: I have nicked your plastic bag idea, not for complete outfit sets, but for groups of clothing like socks, underwear, shirts, etc. My reason is that I hit in this idea when trying to figure how to explain the presence of two large suitcases in the spare room to DD. It occurred to me that I can start packing things into bags several days ahead and then stash them in a black bag. They will all be sorted in the sealed bags so when I come home from work a bit early on the Friday before we go to the ariport hotel :yay: I can just transfer all the things from the black bag into the cases and they will be safely hidden in the boot when it's time to get DD from school.

You need some Mickey Head transfers for your lime green outfits. Better on the clothing than on you :lmao: Last year DD stuck a mickey head shaped sticker on my back and I didn't know about it. After a day in the sun I got our of the shower, having noticed something like paper slipping down the drain, and caught a glimpse of a mickey head shaped non tanned area :rolleyes1

This may sound unreasonable but to a certain extent I think our discussions add to some of the hype. Take ADRs for example. Food is not the highest priority for me. I would rather skip a meal or two than miss an attraction or a show. Yet the ADR "stress" was ridiculous for me and completely out of character. I sit and think about it now and you know, save for one or two specific meals that are special to DD, so what if we ate somewhere different for the rest or had to juggle a few park days on a 14 night on-site trip?! :confused3

Turning up with the wrong passport......:scared1:

I took my wifes a few years ago on a flight to Sweden. It was only when I got the counter and handed it over I realised. The very sympathetic lady at Easyjet said it happened at least twice a day. I felt like an absolute dimwit. At that time there was definatly a village missing its idiot.

So...drive back from Stanstead to Solihull, locate correct passport, drive back back to Stanstead, get on the late evening flight (additional charge), arrive Sweden, bus and then taxi, get to location at 1am (still light!). A long day.

These days - passports are checked with millitary precision! Off to Spain on Tuesday for a 3-day job. Passport already checked twice and stashed away.. :)

My stress starts as we arrive at the airport parking until the suitcases are handed over at check in and then starts as we land until we've cleared picking the car up.
If I could just snap my fingers and be at the destination there would be no stress whatsoever! :rotfl:

These are my stresses exactly!! Whenever I think about it, I feel physically sick about picking up the car and driving out of the airport (I don't relax until i'm on the open road!!) I hate the whole car picking up thing. Enough to make me cry (it's the only time in the whole year, my kids hear me shout!!!)

come round my house, they soon get used to it:rotfl2:

im stressed at the mo, dh has suddenly decided he wants to know whats happening, this is after i have spend the last 12 months on here, asking finding out the who what where stuff, everyone chose their fav restaurants and HE booked the adrs in feb, now its, why? can we? should we? OK, but why not ask these questions before we booked our adrs?
kids have been too many times and are now starting with the "after we have...can we..." I DONT KNOW!!
so im going back to my original plan, of going with the flow, my ocd is struggling and im trying to remain calm but it ll all be good, we travel 3 weeks tomorrow so limited time to sort things out....arrgghhh!!!

Love all the stories - I am "what's the worst thing that could happen?" type of a girl too![/QUOTE]

Me too...at the moment. I've got a case packed already and a list written for the other extra things I've to buy, but if I don't get them, I can get them there:goodvibes This is our first flight from Manchester, so this could all be changed by the time I've been and came back you never know, I might end up being very stressed!!:laughing:
