hey duds...you know you love it here. You just can't stay away....the official CLOT meeting is now called to order.

Well... it's been a very busy few weeks... as you may or may not have heard. Some work is fun, some not so much. This is a not so much cycle. Nice to be in good weather this week!

The Disboards are good for the momentary suspension of reality I need every day! I could never stay away the equivalent of 8 dog years!

I guess I fly in the same parallel universe as most of you--flying IS fun

For the record, we do not dress to the 9s to fly, but we don't go for shappy either. I agree with natural fibers (pretty much always--not just flying) and I do not think anyone over the age of 2 should go out in PJs in public--especially when you are tlaing about flying--not a fast run to the store for Nyquil or somehting

NOW, how in the world would that work, with the whole Hooves and no opposible thumbs? Does Addi make a special Turbo for our cloven hooved friends???

I still want to see duds flying in a nice skirt and a pashmina.

Well I do believe that the CLOT circle is complete with the joining of the newest member from Germany (because we needed another German CLOT! ) and the other CLOT from New England (what is it about New England that they produce so many CLOTs??)

Always open to new membership of course as well!!!

And we expect a full report on the quality and number of cookies served on Duds' flights next week.

The actual 2 hour flight (that is to say, getting to WDW at 500+MPH) is fun.
EVERYTHING else about flying, the airport, luggage, parking etc etc is a gigantic PAIN.
Recall our honeymoon flight on United to S.F. way back in 1976. Nice wide seats, an actual ticket instead of all this boarding pass/herding on the plane nonsense. No TSA security, no taking half your clothes off to put in a shoe bin.
Nice Steak dinner on the way over, bottle of wine, stewardess even sat down with us for a chat. Now they hardly even look at you as they toss a bag of peanuts in your lap.
I now spend my time at the airport before the flight looking over my fellow passangers trying to guess which are likely to act out, or blow up the plane
Friends--flying is not fun!!!!

Ah, you see my friend, it is primarily in the attitude. I am odd enough to somewhat enjoy it all. I'm glad I am--life is much more pleasant my way I think

I AGREE! Many of us do actually enjoy the entire experience, even when we are on planes and in airports several times a week.

I miss the weekly flying adventures I had. Every week it was a different city and a different adventure. I have favorite restaurants, hotels, airports across the country. I have a job I love now but those days on the road I wouldn't trade for anything.

I can remember being the only person on a flight from Pittsburgh to Toledo. The FA said, honey I am not going to bother you. It was like having my own private plane. I can remember the time the engine blew and we had to make an emergency landing. I met a lot of new friends that day. I could go on and on.

Before 9/11 we used to spend Sunday afternoon at the airport watching the people and planes. My kids and I loved it. I can remember going to the airport with my parents and plane watching when I was a kid.

I could tell stories for hours. It is different today but it is still fun. Maybe I live in that parallel universe.

I LOVE the 'visitor park' at MUC. There is a large artificial hill they built for plane spotting, and the 'old timer' area where one pays 1 Euro to pass through a turnstyle to board vintage aircraft and sit and dream of the 'good old days' of flying.

I think that humans often make their own misery and turn something into unpleasantness just because it is the fashion to do so.

Continual cold, crappy weather, natural crankiness added in...yep, that's why there are so many CLOTs from NE.

Well, I know that a certain German CLOT was planning to take a trip to the factory last week, because she was sent some day trip ideas of fun places to visit! This was also on the list http://www.schokoladenmuseum.de/ because one can also make ones own Lindor there.

I am in the land of inferior chocolate at the moment but may have to take that long delayed trip to Berlin in the spring now!

I also still enjoy flying. And, tend to have more "adventures" than "disasters".

Funny, isn't it, how our choice of words changes the perspective. I consider most of my adventures exactly that, and a chance to learn more about people and about the world. Yet others will say that I have the worst luck and seem to always find myself near trouble.

Oh so I am a CLOT, hurray Of course Duds has to be included, he's sensible and I would like being on a plane with him Sometimes I am cranky about transportation things on boards too (like right now on the CB) but it is good to have a home

I can remember the time the engine blew and we had to make an emergency landing. I met a lot of new friends that day. I could go on and on.

Welcome to our universe! The first time I flew alone with the kids internationally we went from Detroit to Puerto Vallarta when they were 1 1/2 and 3 1/2. It should have been a direct flight. The plane took off and after about 10 minutes turned around and went back to land. The door had not sealed properly. We landed and were told to remain in our seats for the quick fix. A good while later we were told to deplane but leave all our belongings on board, the mechanic needed to use an adhesive we could not breath but we would all be back on board in 15 minutes. An hour and a half later we were told to go on and get our things as a new plane was being brought in for us. Some very nice teens (the only other "children on the flight") offered to get my diaper bag for me so I did not have to haul the kids onto the plane. Three hours later, after a good meal in the restruant and lots of comradierie among us passengers we took off. Two hoursish later we were descending waaaaay to soon. They announced about minute before touchdown that we were landing at DFW becuase and engine had blown. WHAT ARE THE ODDS I ASK YOU??? (Yes, I did wonder if I should trust this company by putting myself and kids on a third plane, but I did and it was okay) FAs brought out blankets and pillows (not enough to go around--those awesome teens ran and grabbed two sets and brought them straight away to my kids) and we slept in the terminal until another plane could be flown in and a fresh flight crew as well (yes, this was a charter company--MLT. I did write a nice letter asking for a small refund and ende dup with a very nice letter back and DH got to go to Vegas with hotel for free that Christmas). We ended up arriving 13 hours late after origanlly taking off on time. We met some really nice people, played a lot of cards, shared snacks after a while (nothing open in the part of DFW we were in from when we arrived around midnight until we left around 5:00ish) and were nice to teh flight crew (oddly no rude passengers on that full plane). It was not my first choice in how it could have gionie, but it was okay and the kids arried to exciteing tell their grandparents how much fun they had had camping in an airport I think there are people who would have been so upset by this that their vacation would have been pretty much ruined becuase they can't get over stuff easily.
