When does the summer season start?

I am planning a summer trip to DLR in June and was trying to figure out when the summer season officially starts. It seems like it started June 10 last year, but have not ready anything about 2011. I prefer to go during Summer while everything is up and running and the hours are extended. Thanks! :):)

We went a year and a half ago during the second week of June. It was the first week of Summer Entertainment, but hotels were still cheap, so I guess maybe the transition week? I thought since it wasn't officially the summer season crowds would be good.

WRONG! It was the last week before Annual passes were blocked out! Actually, I think they got blacked out in the middle of our trip, and the crowds were noticeably lower during the first "official" week of summer. I think the third week of June on, avoiding the 4th of July weekend, would be safe!

Socal APs are blocked beginning June 22 this year. I don't know if that corresponds to the official summer season, but certainly summer is in full swing by then.

Mostly the 2nd weekend of June is the start of the summer season at DL during Summer Nightastic. The last two years since I went during those weekends was during the time when WoC debut in 2010 and the upgraded F! (Murphy) plus Magical Nighttime Fireworks Spectacular in 2009. Just like what the pp said that June 22nd is the start of the SoCal AP blockout which means I would go to the parks during the summer when the SoCal AP holders are blocked out or the last weekend of the summer before the SoCal AP holders are unblocked. It was just a messed last summer with the debut of WoC.

Sorry to piggyback on your thread, but this got me thinking. We are planning on going the first week of June. What time can I expect the parks to close? Will there be fireworks/shows yet? My plan was to get the family there at opening, going back to hotel for afternoon break, then going back for the evening. Do I need to push back our dates by a couple weeks if I want to experience all of the evening stuff too?

Here are the park hours from last year at DLR in June 2010: June 2010 Park Hours Most of the park hours are 8am to 12am at DL (mostly on Fridays to Sundays). Some days have some different times like around 9am to 11pm but you should be fine with getting all the nighttime events during the first month of June. There will also be nights when DL closes early since they are having Grad Nite at DL in May and June. On Grad Night days, they do have fireworks just before the park closes at 9pm.

Thanks so much! I can even deal with 9:00 closing; my youngest will be 5, so it's not like we would be staying much later than that every night anyway. I was just worried that it would close even earlier than that! Thanks again!
