when does the OKW rehab start?

Wow, I understood the discussion of hardwood floors to apply to the GV's. Never even thought they would put them in the 1BR/2BR units.

Not sure how I feel about that :confused3:scratchin

Hope they include an area type rug under the LR furniture at least.

Well IF they can control the noise for those in the units below, I can understand why they would make this move. There is hardly ever a stay when we don't see a "damp" carpet in the living/dining area at OKW because they obviously had to clean up someone's spill.

The GV's USED to have canvas floor cloths under the coffee table instead of those ugly dark green rugs they have now. I liked that look, and it should have been easy to keep clean.

For our stay in a two bedroom in building 55 in October the thermostat kept going back to 78 degrees whenever there was no activity in the hall where it is located. I would set it back to 73 and a little while later find it back at 78.

I had a paper with me with the override process I found for SS but this thermostat didn't have the same buttons and I couldn't figure out how to do an overrride.

Did I read something on here about the 1-br's getting a sleeper chair with the rehab? Thanks!

I also like the idea of hardwoods for cleanliness, but ONLY if there is noise control. I've always been afraid of being one of the poor souls stuck under a GV. I'm a light sleeper and ther is no way I'd ever get any rest if I heard the people above me.

It's not the a/c unit you need to be concerned about, it's the thermostats that have the motion sensors built into them. The current sensor stats can be fooled and in most cases you can override the programming. Lets hope that they don't upgrade the sytem to one with a master control controlled by computer program at a central location. After hearing complaints about BLT hvac problems I have suspition that BLT is on this system.
I know what you mean, when I go to our local mall one of the stores is always hot and I asked someone once why the air is not on and she told me it is controlled in Texas and we live in Pa. Oh Boy! I love the air conditioning units at OKW, we have never had a problem with them. They always seemed to work great.

Yes, the 1 and 2 bedroom villas are to get sleeper chairs, but I'm assuming that means the GV's will also have them. With 4 bathrooms in the GVs, that would mean you could easily accommodate 13 people. Now, I will tell you we HAVE done 12 in a GV at OKW once, and while it was a LOT of people, the only thing that was an issue was the kitchen. The GV kitchen at OKW is NOT convenient with it's sink jammed into the corner near the stove. When we had all those people, we ended up cooking every meal but one each day there, and it was inconvenient.

Absolutely agree! Guess we'll just have to wait & see. I will say I am very happy that they will be getting the sleeper chairs.

but i think they are just refinishing the hardwood in the gv.everything else is just getting new carpet/tile ect...i think i read this somewhere else.???????
also i read somewhere to get a balloon in the room to move around and fool the motion senser.never tried it but makes sense. again??????

All I know for sure is that I can't wait to see pictures of a room full y redecorated/rehabbed! How exciting.

I agree! I'm getting really tired of seeing units at OKW with non-matching hardware. I know it seems like a little thing to some, but brass fixtures on some doors, and nickle ones on others in the same room just bug me!

Some people even reported non-matching blinds(must look odd) in some of the villas, I've been fortunate because I haven't had villas with the wear and tear that others have reported. I'm booked for June at OKW, they offered HH but I didn't take it now I'm regretting it since it's the 1st area to get rehabed.

Yes, I turned down HH for our March trip too, and I just made December ressies, but turned it down for then as well. I just don't care for the HH area that much. I'd rather either take my chances or be in buildings 45 or 46.

How about non-matching furniture? LOL! I was there last week and the sofa and love seat were two different fabrics. The sofa was the teal/rust combo while the loveseat was rose/med. blue. Too funny. I guess it's due for a rehab soon - I was in bldg. 21. The carpet was in great shape still, but the appliances were old, and many of the doors in the kitchen cabinets and drawers in the armoire in the bedroom were "stiff" to open. Also, the mattress sagged in the middle big time. It was just me, so I didn't complain. I did report the fan light on the porch was out, and the icemaker in the fridge just didn't work, even in the "on" position. This was a handicapped accessible unit, which I didn't request. I didn't ask to be moved, since it still had the jacuzzi tub I could use, and it was only the 2nd time in 16 years that I have been placed in an accessible unit. Those mismatched pieces of furniture were funny.

Are the studios being rehabbed as well? We requested a studio near HH for our stay beginning on 3/30.
