When does the dining plan day start?

We have a late flight and are staying offsite on our arrival day, checking into our resort the next morning. I know the room will not be ready, but can we check in at 7am and then go to a 7:30 breakfast? Is the online check-in sufficient, as the plan loads into our MDE, or do we need to actually go to the resort? TIA

Online check-in should be sufficient, but have a backup payment method and get a receipt if it doesn't work, and sort it out at the resort desk later.

Online check-in SHOULD be sufficient. It does not always work.
