When does the 2014-15 school year calendar?

I live in NY and the Board of Ed calendar is only available right now for 2013-14.

I am in the early phases of planning a trip for my son's winter break next year. I know its usually in February (this year it was Feb 17-21). He is only in preschool but they follow the Board of Ed calendar.

Any parents know when they usually come out?

How early would you book flights?

We booked our February flight in September.
As for school calendars, I think this is just highly dependent on not only your state/city but your school district. I'd call your child's school and ask if they know when it usually comes out because you are planning a trip.

I'm in CT. Our school calendar for next year will be out in early April.

Your son is only in Preschool. Go on vacation when it is convenient for you.

I'm on Long Island and our calendar has us starting Wednesday 9/3.

Usually, the schools around here and in NYC start the Wednesday after Labor Day. (there have been exceptions to this, but I don't think they ever started before Labor Day) This upcoming year appears to be the same.

I wouldn't worry too much about pre-school. Enjoy it while you can

My daughter's school already released the calendar for the 2014-2015 school year. Specifically so people can plan vacations. I have to say they're very good about it. She goes to a private school. However, when my daughter was in public school, I was able to get a look at the upcoming school year from a teacher. I don't think many teachers would do this, but this teacher was always nice to me and when I explained my reasons, she offered.

Check with your local BOCES. Usually they approve the calendar first, then the school districts follow.

We're in WNY and I believe the 14-15 calendar is nearly identical to this year's (about one day off) with the possible exception of Easter break.

The Feb break in our area is ALWAYS the week of President's Day.

Yes, Feb break for us is always the week of president's day.

The only time it was changed (and I am 41 years old) was in 2013 when they needed to make up days from Hurricane sandy. Even then, my kids said the schools were half empty with students and teachers on vacation.
