When does it hit you that you are really going?

There are really two parts to my answer. The trip becomes 'real' when we buy the airfare because that's non-refundable so a bridge has been burned. The last 2 trips this has taken place between 300 and 330 days out from the return date. When it 'hits me' is when we break out the suitcases, usually the weekend before we leave, so that will be Feb. 25 for next year's trip. I hesitate to post a counter until we're under 200 days but you can see I violated that rule this time. Other benchmarks: Aug. 15 we pay a DVC member in full for 9 days at BWV, Sept. 2 I start making ressies for dining, Christmas we buy our 10 day park passes over the 'net as our presents to each other and at some point I've got to book a WDW resort for the last 2 nights of our stay, 3/9 and 3/10.

For me it is when I pick up all my paperwork, then it hits me, trips all paid for and papers are in my hand!!!

It still hasnt hit me that we are REALLY GOING... Everything is paid, airline tickets purchased, ADR'S made.... BUT IT STILL DOSENT SEEM LIKE ITS GONNA HAPPEN IN 11 DAYS. YIPEEE

For me, it is leavingthe job the last day for me will be Sept 17th. So, that is a long ways off. Also, when, I have to wake up early morning. To catch our flight. That is when it really sinks in

When I make the final payment and then get my documents!!! :cool1: :woohoo:

Next trip will be when I get in my car (will be driving down for the first time), other drivers are going to wonder why I have this big stupid grin on my face all the way down :teeth:

There are 2 times - once when I put my first payment down and being the REAL waiting game and the second is when I can open my team schedule at work and see (SC) Disneyworld the top!!!! :thumbsup2

We drive there every year(I think we only flew once) but anyways. It doesn't really fully hit me until I see the advertisements and it really hits me when we're by crossroad plaza(I think that's what it's called, its by Dixie Stampeed[sp]) and you can see the "Welcome to Disney World!" gateway... From there...I just loose it because I've been in a car for 20+ hours, seeing the country and what not, and we're finally where we're supposed to be.

for me it hits when im on the plane and i hear "good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, on behalf on northwest airlines, i'd like to welcome you to orlando. the temperature (is a lot warmer than minnesota!)".... or what ever it is that they say! It also hits when i see that 1st palm tree and when i step foot in my disney hotel and i'm told to "have a magical day"!!!! gosh, i love disney!

It hits me when I'm on the plane and about to touch down into Orlando. Last time I saw a grove of trees or a city of something that looked exactly like Mickey ears! I just about lost it and regressed about 20 years right there in my seat! Thats when it sunk in that I was going home! :cool1: :Pinkbounc

There are little things that do, like putting my deposit down, buying the airline tix, making ADRs, and picking up docs.

But I KNOW I'm really going the morning of. We always take the early flight, so we are awake before the sun comes up.

The world is still sleeping while we quietly finish packing and roll our suitcases out to the car. Our drive to IL's is done on virtually empty streets with our headlights on. Once we get to IL's (FIL drives us to airport) MIL wishes us a nice trip while she is still in her robe and slippers.

While we load up for the trip to the airport, the sun is just starting to peak over the horizon.

That's when I know.

It hits me that I am really going when I start packing, but, I start feeling the magic when we pull on Disney property!

It will be Monday morning at 5:30 a.m. when that white stretch limo pulls into our driveway to take us to Logan Airport!

Since we always drive, for me it's when the sun is rising, and I have to move the visor from it's usual straight ahead position, and pull it down and to the left. That means the car is headed South, and we are on the way.

It hits me about 30 miles into a 850 mile drive when I hear the first "How much longer?" :lmao:

Normally it is when I start to pack. Then I know...wow its time to go..and I get so excited!!
This year it will be when I flip the tassel at graduation, we leave the night after I graduate so it will definitely be at the tassel flip! :goodvibes

The first time is when I buy a gallon of milk with an expiration date after the day we leave for Disney World. The second time is when we drive away from the house. The third time is when we arrive at check-in at Ft. Wilderness. :cool1:

When I'm at single digits and packing!
But I got a bonus the other day when my vacation (verbally but not "officially" approved) was signed off - my boss said 6 more weeks. 6 MORE WEEKS! Yay! How time drags when you're waiting to go......!

For me its when I have to get up at 5am to leave for Sunny Florida since we live in Ohio and we always drive. Dad is usually freaking out because we always bring to much luggage and he doesnt think everything will fit in our Trailblazer but we usually do find room for everything! Of course when we go under the Welcome sign and are "officially" on Disney property! Cant wait until April of 2007! A week of fun at the Boardwalk!!
