Any news on the official opening date yet? Does this years Universal promo dvd show anything different from the artist impressions already shown?

I don't know if there's any official opening date but I did see an advert for it on TV last night so it must be getting pretty close - the advert still said "Opening in Spring" though.

Don't do that to me!! I was already mentally buying my tickets

Please, Please let it be open anytime from April onwards!!:yay:

haha anytime between 3rd May - 28th May for meeee Plsssssssss x

Imagine if it opened in June?! :scared1: I think I would actually burst into tears, I have been looking forward to it for the last year and a half :)

I saw that as well. Spring is technically March/April/May. If I were them i'd either do it at the beginning of March so it has been open a few weeks before the Easter rush, or I'd do it after Easter.

I had heard mention of 20th May which I thought was kind of late but then again who knows.... it's just Universals idea of keeping the suspense going. As long as it's open by September I'll be happy - hahaha

I bet the rides are operating in April, soft testing or whatever it's called. Fingers crossed for everyone going at Easter.

I saw the advert yesterday too. It's looking good. Off to have a look on mugglenet to see if there is anything there.

They said Spring last year for the Rip Ride Rockit and when we were there in mid-August it was just say at soft opening stage so with this being a much larger construction I would not hold your breath for a before May opening.

I'm sure I read a couple of days ago, that it wasn't due to open until the end of June, as I was trying to figure out with my OH how that could be counted as spring.

From what I have read on the Universal forums I think we are at least a couple of months away yet, I personally reckon early May, there are a lot of structures that are basically just steel beams and from the many photos I have seen it is impossible to say what the interior of the attractions & buildings are like, plus there is a lot of theming/landscaping still to be done.

The latest Harry Potter DVD includes a bonus disc which, somewhat surprisingly, reveals more detail than has previously been available (to my knowledge).

The cast interviews are a little weak on content (effectively just one big promo with them eulogising about the whole thing), but the footage is new and includes snippets from Michael Gambon (Dumbledore), Robbie Coltrane (Hagred), Oliver and James Phelps (George and Fred Weasley), and Matthew Lewis (Nevville Longbottom) as well as Daniel Radclliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint and Tom Felton. They're interviewed in various settings, but it isn't clear whether we're viewing the film set or the theme park set.

You do get to see the interior of The Three Broomsticks, which appears to be 100% true to the film version. From there, you pass through into the Hogs Head where you'll experience the hog's head growling and sniffling at you. Michael Gambon claims that this will be his first stop where he'll be ordering 8 pints of butter beer. Disappointingly, it isn't alcoholic. What's all that about?

In Dragon Challenge (the old Dueling Dragons coaster), you'll compete in one of the challenges from the Tri-Wizard tournament. You'll walk through the champion's tent and see various artefacts from the Goblet of Fire.

Before boarding Flight of the Hippogriff (the old Flying Unicorn) Hagred will give everyone instructions about how to behave. The interesting part is that the ride will go past Hagred's Hut, so more familiar architecture from the films.

And now for the biggy - The Forbidden Journey inside Hogwarts Castle. It's described by Daniel Radcliffe as a condensed form of the chaos of Harry's life. The cast is shooting an exclusive piece encompassing the best moments from all the films. Unsurprisingly the queue is billed as an adventure in itself passing through the main staircase complete with moving portraits, a Defence Against The Dark Arts room, the Common Room, The Great Hall, a life size Wandering Willow, and the giant spider.

Anyone see the Universal advert on TV tonight for Harry Potter?

I keep missing the advert - or rather i sky+ everything and probably whizz past it.... oh btw my DH stood next to one of the Weasley brothers in Waterstones in Sutton Coldfield, West Mids, last week - he wasn't sure which brother only that it wasn't Ron. :goodvibes
