Do they wait until after Thanksgiving to put up decorations and begin with MVMCP? I imagine that decorating could take weeks but when do they usually kick off the Christmas season?

they started decorating last week? day after the last Mickey Halloween party is when decorations start going up.

:thumbsup2 We've been to WDW a few times during the week of Thanksgiving and ALL the decorations are up by then. It is my understand, the last of the holiday decorations are put into the place the week before Thanksgiving. :goodvibes

Yip. We were in GF and Beach the week before Thanksgiving and they were doing things overnight like putting up the chocolate carousel and gingerbread house. Some of the stuff was probably up before then. I think the Osbourne family lights was there from the beginning of the week.

What is the Candleight Processional?

from the Disney website . . .

Nightly Candlelight Processional at the American Gardens Theatre. Revel in the joy of the season as you listen to an unforgettable retelling of the Christmas story by a celebrity narrator accompanied by a 50-piece orchestra and mass choir.

The decorations start going up on November 1 and by mid November all the holiday events are usually taking place.

The Osbourne Lights started on 11/12 last year. The Candlelight Processional started (I think) the day after Thanksgiving.

Actually, the Osbourne Lights start going up a few months in advance (with 6 million of them to put up, you have to start early!) It is a little strange to be walking around DHS in October though and seeing Christmas lights hanging up, and sometimes, even the occasional wreath.

The first Christmas party last year was also on Nov. 12th. That's too early, in my opinion. So is starting Halloween parties in September (14th), as well as having them AFTER the holiday (Nov. 2nd).

:cloud9: I hope the lights are shining in DHS the week before Thanksgiving this year. That is when we plan to visit WDW. We saw it the past three years (week of Thanksgiving twice and the week after Thanksgiving last year) and it has become a family holiday tradition.:santa: It is truly amazing with all the light coordinated to the music.:thumbsup2

We went one year beginning of November and Osborne Lights weren't scheduled until after we were supposed to leave. Luckily before Fantasmic they announced they were doing a preview on the lights and you could head over after the show. It was great. :goodvibes
