When does Christmas/the holidays start?

We'll be in WDW Nov 8-16th. We'll be attending MVMCP on the 13th, but I'm wondering when all of the other holiday events start and decorations go up. Thanks in advance for your help!

One year, we were staying at the BW the second week of November. We went to bed and the place wasn't decorated -- and got up the next morning to find EVERYTHING decorated. Elves were just finishing up the Christmas tree out on the green. I was amazed. And very impressed.

Thanks! That would be so fun to be there when everything goes up! Hopefully they'll do it on the 15th so we can see some of it before we leave.

We're going to be there until the 11th of Nov., and a CM on the phone said "aawwwww, don't you want to see the Christmas things? They go up on the 13th!!! You can extemd your stay just a little bit!" so I'm guessing you'll see some overnight magic.

Most things officially start the Friday after Thanksgiving. There are lights and such that will be going up earlier for the early parties but most of it will be around that Friday.

Thanks! It'll be so fun to wake up and see everything in the morning. Kinda like waking up to the first snowfall...which I don't get to see anymore since I moved from Salt Lake City to Southern California!

I hope the OP does not mind me adding another question here....do the Osborne Lights go up at the same time (mid Nov)?

We will be there Nov. 9-15 and will also be attending MVMCP on Monday the 13th. According to some site I was looking at when planning this trip (can't remember which site) the lights at MGM should go on the same night and that is why we are staying untill the 15th in order to see them Tuesday night. We also liked the idea that the food and wine fest. at Epcot should still be going on untill Sunday the 12th.
