When do your kids go back to school?

It looks like some have gone back already1 My kids go back Sept. 3rd. I'll be in setting up my classroom the week before

Next Monday - August 11th is the 1st day down here.

Not soon enough. The day after Labor Day. Although DS17 starts football camp next Monday, which is like, but much worse than, a full-time job. He looks FORWARD to school opening, because it means the end of football camp!!

Some kids around here go back on Wednesday and Thurs...others go back on Monday...

I remember when i was in school, we started the Wed. before Labor Day. We went 3 days, then had a 3 day weekend. It was GREAT to get back into things that way!

august 21, I don't know why we always start on a Thursday and end on a tuesday, but we have been doing it as long as I've had kids in school which is 16 years.

My dd starts school on AUGUST 8th. I go back to work tomorrow. Some of the kids in the next county started today and another county starts on the 7th.

DS#2 (high school senior) starts back this Wednesday

DS#1 (college sophomore) starts back August 20th but will probably leave here on the 17th.

DD (4th grader) starts on Thursday, August 21st

Wow... I can't believe how early alot of these kids go back to school?! My DD's first day back is Wednesday August 27th. They do the three days prior to the long labor day weekend approach... kind of eases them back into the groove of things.

Ours go back so early mainly so that the semester ends before Christmas vacation. They were having problems with kids forgetting stuff during christmas break and were spending too many days reviewing instead of teaching after the break. Also it gets so hot so early down here . School gets out in early to mid May down here to try to get the kids out of school in the hottest part of the summer.
