When do your kids go BACK to school?

I know it's WAAY early to even think about this, especially since the kids are just starting to get out of school, but I'm curious when school starts again for your kids?
Our next trip to WDW is August 15 - 22, and DD starts school on 8/31.
I'm kind of curious when various schools start up again (for entirely selfish reasons I'm wondering if it will reduce crowd levels when we're there).

(FWIW DD's last day of school this year is 6/5.)

Our last day is June 4th, and school starts back up again on the Tuesday after Labor Day...Sept 8th. In Michigan it is a law that school cannot start until after Labor Day, I think to promote tourism.

That is why we are going to WDW the first week of September!!!

I think Minnesota may have a similar law in place about school not starting until after Labor Day. (Fellow Minnesotans who are more in the know feel free to jump in here!)
But I also think that districts are able to get a one time waiver, which apparently our district (Hopkins) must have done, since Labor Day is so late this year.

OP - we will be at Disney Aug 15 - 22 also!!! We are staying ath ASMu.

School for us starts back Aug 25...so we drive home on Aug 22, and the kids have two "free" days before school starts.

Here in Jefferson Parish (in Louisiana) the last day of school is May 25th and the first day of school is August 10th.

My girls last day of school is June 18th and they start the new school year on Sept 1st. They usually start after Labor day but seeing that it is late this late this year they will start before it and have labor day off.

We're in GA and our last day is tomorrow and school starts back up August 10.

Our kids get out June 26 and they will start back the Tuesday after Labor day. However, the staff has to report on Sept. 1-2 Talk about no summer vacation..Oh, yey, I forgot somewhere in the midst of all the "summer vacation" there will be summer school, and the staff will have department/grade level meetings

End Friday, May 22nd and go back Thursday, August 6th. I actually get out May 27th and have to report back on August 3rd. I also have stuff that I must attend over the summer. I wished that we would start back after Labor Day.

While I wouldn't want to live in Michifan that is a great summer break. We get out here june 12 and go back I think the week before labor day. I wish we has more time off.

School starts here for students Monday, August 3. This is the first time in several years that it did NOT start August 1.

In most So Cal areas they dont either LOL My boys get out June 12th, go back Aug 17th. We will be in WDW till the 18th. So they will miss the 1st 2 days of school. DARN I dont think its bad for a 2nd and 5th grader, last yr the missed 2 weeks for our cruise.

Aren't all you guys that start back in early and mid august a little miffed? I am ticked that my kids go back before labor day. The weather is so hot here when they go back and we have a pool. They get home from school and are in the pool and hard to get out and get them focused on anything. The same with the rest of the kids in the neighborhood, they are at my door before they even have a snack at their house. I would be happy to give up our thanksgiving break, spring bread and the week before christmas off to have a longer summer. The other times of the year their isn't all that much to do for us and my sons high school doesn't have the same time off that the public schools do so we can't go anywhere.

YEP! They have added a Fall Break of 3 days and then we get a week off for Thanksgiving. What gives! Our hottest time is August---they give kids water bottles the first week as they go to the buses. It is sooooo hot! Heat index is usually over 100 closr to 105 those first 2 weeks. It is impossible to keep the rooms cool.

We go back august 7, but our last day is Ma 29th. I like it b/c it is already warm enough to swim here, and by august it is sooooo hot everyone is just miserable and no one wants to do anything outdoors. I would reather enjoy plesant weather now than be out through august when it is just unbearable.

Our Last dday is 6/8/09 (half day) and we go back on 8/24/09-Boo Hiss, I'd rather wait untill after Labor Day!
