We live in central Illionis and my girls start school August 20th.

Texas--August 25. By state law, the earliest anyone can go back in TX is August 20.

I liked it better when we went back at the beginning of August and got out in mid-May with lots of days off. Now we get out in June (summers are too hot to enjoy) and barely get any days off beyond spring break, Thanksgving day & day after, and Christmas week & week after.
