We just received letter yesterday from the Timeshare Store that said we closed on our resale. It said we would get the deed in 4-6 weeks. From this board I knew that we will probably be in the Disney system before that so I called and gave them my name and address (they didn't ask for social security number). But they said we weren't in there yet and couldn't really tell me when to try calling back. I was thinking I would call again tomorrow, but I don't want to haunt them. For any who have purchased resales, how soon after closing were you able to get your membership number from them? We are just so anxious to get a trip planned with those points!!! Also, for anyone that is interested the time it took from the day we made the offer to closing was 7 weeks.

We have usually been in the DVC computer within a week of the closing date.

Don't be shy about calling until you get your information. I'd offer the SSN to assist in their search for your name.

Welcome Home!! :D

A week is how long it took us to get in the system. Congratulations!:)

Melk,
We just bagan the closing process through the same company and I was wondering, how long between sending the closing package and actual closing letter? Beginning to get excited!:p

We were in the system about a 10 days after our closing. I called everyday from about 5 days of our closing. I also gave them my social security number to make the search easier.

It was a great feeling when they finally said "Yes, you're in the system - Welcome Home". They gave me my membership number (which resembles the VIN from my van it's so long) and I was on my way. I couldn't help but to ask a few simple questions when I had them on the phone.

They told me it would take about a month to get my welcome package, but I could begin to make any reservations now.

It was a great feeling, I finally felt OFFICIAL!!!

Bojo,
We sent off our closing package on May 13 (a Monday), and received the letter that said we closed this past Monday, June 3. So it took exactly 3 weeks for us to hear. I called Disney, still not in the system, I'll try again tomorrow. But I did receive a nice thank-you from the Timeshare Store today. I found them to be very good to deal with. No problems.

It's been 4 weeks and counting since we made our offer. I called the closing company yesterday and they said we should know "something" in a week. I am not good at waiting. LOL

Thanks for the info melk; we are waiting patiently!

marymrg - I was unhappy with the lack of communication between the resale company and us. They never contacted us to update us of the progress - just left it there after they got the deposit. I expected a little more - maybe let us know that Disney passed on ROFR, went to closing company, package on the way, etc. Oh well, we'll be offical soon!

To all you folks who just became official "members" and for those of you still waiting, "Welcome Home"!!!!! We just joined in Feb 2001 and took our first official DVC vacation this past Feb and it was such a great feeling "going home". We had been to WDW many time prior, but it had a different feeling this time. We spent 6 days at VWL and took the 3 night cruise and it was FABULOUS!!!!!!!! We even stayed one night at Hilton Head on our way home to NJ and that was wonderful. We always go in Jan or Feb and I couldn't wait until I was able to make the res. for next year.

Again, Welcome Home!!!!!

Jim
